There was a scrape at the closed window, causing the youngest McCall to open her eyes at the intrusion to her sleep. She frowned, in hopes it wasn't Stiles. That boy always clambered through entrances that were not supposed to be doors.

She rose, padding towards where her curtains were shut. Praying to the absence of her father, Maxine whisked them ajar, only to be met with patient green eyes. He grinned as she lifted the structured panes, allowing him entrance.

"Mum will kill you if she knew that you were here at this time." The thought made her giggle slightly as she moved aside and Theo crawled through. Melissa adored the boy and praised his treatment of her daughter, but she would not appreciate broken rules.

"Then that is a sacrifice I would have to make. I can't stay away." He smirked, causing the girl to shake her head.

"She has a bat." Maxine warned him, hearing a yell from the porch but recognising it as her brother's. Stiles was here.

"She'll never know. Scott's just left." Frowning, Theo moved closer to Maxine's bed. There was a lacrosse stick strewn out on top of the duvet, perfectly threaded. "Is this Scott's?"

Pursing her lips, Maxine felt her nerves rise. He could find her dream humorous, seeing as she was a little girl hoping to fit big shoes.

"I'm participating in the tryouts. Scott gave me the idea, saying I probably had more chance than him and Stiles combined."

Her boyfriend picked it up, inspecting the object of sport. His silence worried Maxine, although he was filled with pride.

"I think it's a great idea. I'll be at the sidelines, cheering for my favourite McCall."

"Thank God." Sighed Maxine, feeling her heart settle in her chest.

"Kick Whittemore's ass. His ego needs to be deflated." Theo smiled, moving closer to Maxine and holding her relieved head in his hands. "I can't believe my girl is going to make the team." If anything, he was infatuated with the idea. She deserved to have her name called by the entire school, she worked hard enough for her age and this was her moment to shine.

"I am going to make the team." Her smile lit up the room, the beam reflecting in Theo's smitten eyes.
