When he opened his rested eyes, Theo was met with a blurred white ceiling, and red walls that spiralled around the room. This wasn't his house, he was quick to realise, looking down at his chest to see Maxine laid upon it. His chest heaved as he sighed, comfortable in this position with his first love.
Last night felt like a dream. Neither of them had thought of it as a good one, but he had never spent the night either. It was all becoming surreal. The human tried to shuffle out from beneath the werewolf, but her grip remained firm, keeping him stuck in his previous position.
"Stay." Max ordered him, mumbling her words into his chest. So, she had awoken after all.
"You did it." A smile broadened his facial features as he looked down at his beloved Maxine, her eyes remaining shut as he studied her resting form. "You made it through your first full moon, and nothing went wrong." Proud would be an understatement to how she was feeling.
"Let me sleep." She whined, trying not to grin at his statement. It was true, they had both survived the night of terror, and it was only because of one another.
"I love you Maxine McCall." He truthfully spoke as he kissed her hair, not wanting to leave her bed. They were both equally comfortable, and he didn't want to be the one to ruin it. School could wait, their time together couldn't.
A hum lingered from her throat. It was her way of replying without actually having to speak. Theo had become accustomed to her using it as a part of her language. His hand stroked her back over her shirt, soothing his palm over the material which made her shuffle closer onto his body. He didn't want to worry her with mentioning her discoloured eyes. Him nor Stiles knew what it meant, however the answer could wait. It didn't seem to be of current urgency anyway. "The formal is in a few days..."
"So?" It was a groggy reply seeing as she was half asleep, but she knew where this change in topic was leading to. Theo sat up against the headboard, disturbing his girlfriend with his movement. In response to it she followed him, her arms entangling tighter around his waist.
"It would only be right if I asked the most beautiful girl in the town to be my date. So, Maxine McCall, will you do me the honours of accompanying me?" At last she wriggled, opening her forest eyes and looking up at her potential suitor for that night.
"Aren't you sort of obligated to ask me, seeing as we're dating and all?" The fingers on her right hand began to draw circles on her chest, until the door opened to reveal her mother, arms crossed as she stood in her scrubs.
"She'd be honoured to go with you Theo." Her mother answered for her, looking in between the young couple with timid eyes. "As she'd be honoured to start getting ready for school right now."
Despite Melissa handling her own dating life with interest and fretting over possibly not getting another chance with Peter, she was more than happy to assist her daughter.
"Give me a minute and I'll get dressed." The girl sighed, not missing the look her mother was giving them.
"Theo can I speak to you for a moment?" There was no way he would say no to the woman of the McCall house. He was terrified of what she was going to say, especially since he had an idea what it was concerning.
"Sure." Theo scrambled from underneath Maxine and off her bed, following Melissa out of the door and down the stairs to the kitchen. No matter how far they went from Max, she would now hear their conversation, and he wished she had to endure it by his side instead, or not have to endure it at all.
"You spent the night." It wasn't a question, it was more than obvious that he had. Hell, he was still wearing yesterday's clothes!
"Yeah..." He anxiously scratched the back of his neck, looking anywhere but into her scolding parent eyes.
"I get it, you're both kids. Just look after my daughter Raeken, she deserves the whole world. And be safe, if need be I can get you two protection." His face paled as she mentioned that touchy subject, the one him and Max hadn't even had a detailed converstation about yet.
"That's not necessary." It was quick to tumble from his mouth as he attempted to handle his shock. "We haven't done that yet, and we're not planning to until she legal. I would never disrespect her, whether it be through her age, like that."
Melissa's frown deepened as she studied his panicking expression, that being evidential enough to show that he was delivering her the truth. But then the nurse of her kicked in as she gave him some free advice.
"Put some salt water on that lip of yours, it should help heal the cut." Sighing, Melissa grabbed her bag, about to go out to her car, before she paused. "Don't forget if you need anything that can prevent anything infectious happening between the two of you, let me know."
"That was so embarrassing." Theo groaned as he relocated upstairs, holding a dampened cotton pad with hints of salt against his wounded lip. It stung but he ignored the soreness it emphasised as he entered Max's room. He had to make sure she was awake, and he had also left his phone on her bedside table.
He was too focused on mending the cut by holding the pad that he hadn't realised Max was very much up and awake. Glancing up, his mouth gaped as he saw her pulling her shirt over her head, exposing her pink bra that matched the growing flush on his face. In an instant he turned around, not meaning to have intruded. "Sorry." It was a whisper, but nevertheless she heard it.
"You're going to see me in less eventually." Being bitten had definitely given her more confidence, that was for certain. She turned, putting on another shirt as she felt Theo's shyness settling upon the atmosphere. "Go see if Scotty has a shirt for you to borrow."
Scott was most definitely going to kill him. Stiles was a snitch, and there was no way he hadn't told him about last night. And the fact that he was still in the house... well, he would find out.
