The stairs in the high school were steep, and Max probably should have been paying more attention as she was walking down them. Her mind however was elsewhere, replaying the previous day when she attended Theo's check up at the hospital. Things weren't looking particularly great, and it wasn't leaving her mind for a second.

As she came to the bottom of the stairs, her body collided with another, and her books fell to floor from her arms. She gasped, feeling guilty for being distracted.

"Sorry." Squeaked from her mouth as she bent down to collect her things. The person who she had accidently walked into joined her, showing that boys in this day and age could be polite.

"No, I'm sorry. I was distracted." He had a British accent, something she found vaguely familiar. The boy handed back her books, looking down as he thought she was inspecting one of the bruises that were stamped onto his face.

"Have we met before?" It wasn't something she's usually ask people, but there was no chance of embarrassment in front of mass crowds. Maxine had just left the library, still in her free period.

"Not technically, but I'm on the lacrosse team." He rubbed the back of his neck, unsurprised that she didn't remember. Pretty girls never did.

"I'm Maxine." Her hand shot forward, and he willingly shook it. He was already aware of her identity, but decided not to interrupt or be rude amidst her kind nature.

"Isaac." The boy told her shyly, trying not to look into her green eyes.

"Well Isaac, I'll see you on the field." And just like that she left, going to meet with Theo as she had originally planned.

The guns fired at the enemy, creating yellow flashes to obscure their vision. And then they themselves were shot, resulting in game over. Maxine was not too pleased at failing the mission, eyeing the screen of the television with annoyance.

"Damn it!" Theo peeled her hands from the controller as her grip became harder. She'd only be more irritated if she broke it. Max reluctantly let go of it, knowing her anger was not the most controllable.

"It's just a game." Her boyfriend laughed as she shot him a glare accompanied by a pout.

"A stupid game." Maxine mumbled, and Theo took  that as a plea to turn the console off. Before she had been bitten, she had never gotten worked up at a video game, but times had changed. He remained on the floor, knelt as he looked at her with curiosity.

"What do you want to do now?" The only thing that he received was a dumbfounded expression which portrayed her lack of ideas. She was quick to join him on the floor, going in for a kiss to seal the silence but before she could press her lips against his, he put a finger against them. "I've thought of a game." It was never good when Theo smirked, and that was exactly what he was doing. That meant trouble. "How about too hot?" Of course that had to be the one that went to the mind of the typical teenage boy.

"Fine. But just so you know, I'm going to win." Although her words emitted confidence, Max doubted them herself. Sure her competitiveness had increased, but so had her hormones. It was an uphill battle.

They turned to each other, eyes glancing at one another's hands that were all planted on the carpet. Neither of them wanted to lose, but there could only be one winner. Theo began, leaning into Maxine, sucking her bottom lip in her mouth, causing her to shut her eyes in satisfaction. She opened her mouth, allowing him to slip his tongue inside and explore the cavern of her speech. Their tongues tangled, teasing the other in an internal dance. Pulling away, Theo noticed Max's annoyance had returned as she squinted at him, as if asking him why he had stopped.
