Finstock let them disperse, pleased that he had found the McCall bloodline. They had both managed to succeed in making front line, but Maxine was confused as to how Scott had. That wasn't meant in offence, but he had never been the most athletic. If she was being honest, before today she viewed his ability as average. He had never played, and with luck he had caught almost every ball when he was in goal, seemingly accidentally, excluding the one that hit him straight in the helmet. It had drove Stiles into a stunned frenzy, and made a couple of girls, including Lydia Martin, ogle at him.

Jackson had stopped her escape. All she wanted was a shower, and then afterwards study for history, however both were being delayed. The subject she was wanting to freshen up on entranced her, and gave her the feeling of age, as if she had transported back all those years, but right now she was stuck as a freshman, in the face of a junior. It was obvious her presence would trigger a response from someone, she was a girl on a team of boys, but unfortunately it was the rich boy who was a total jackass. She was just lucky that she wasn't Greenberg.

"You're McCall's sister?" He seemed astounded at that fact, blowing out a whistle of air in surprise. "Where has he been keeping you?" From a distance it would look like a regular conversation, and maybe it was when you became older, but Maxine hadn't dealt with many.

"Middle school." Her tone was blunt, hoping he would take the hint and run off with his strawberry blonde girlfriend that Stiles was obsessed with. "And also in the basement, it's dark and isolated and away from guys like you."

His head retracted from where it was lowered to get less distance between them. He hadn't expected her to reject him so coldly and humorously. Any girl would be lucky to have him, and then he remembered he had the hottest girl in his grade.

"If you want to loosen up a little from this timid exterior you have going on, my girlfriend's having a party tomorrow night. You should come." Jackson was expecting her to reject his offer, and was intrigued when she didn't. "Great. I'll see you there."

"What was that about?" Theo asked her once they had reunited. He had seen the jock speaking to Maxine, and it gave him a bad feeling. He drew girls to him, and he sure hoped he didn't hae the same effect on his girlfriend.

Seeing Scott leave the locker room, she pressed her index finger to her pursed lips. "I'll tell you later." He wouldn't let her go if he was aware, she was fortunate he hadn't attempted to stop her from trying out. "And there's the star player."

Her brother looked down, smiling. Stiles came up behind him, patting his friend on the shoulder. "You were really good too." She had been, but miraculously he had surpassed her level.

"I was on about Stiles. He did such a good job sitting on the side-lines." Stiles smiled at her comment, messing up her hair that had been released from its oily pony tail. "But how did you get so good over night?"

"I wasn't aware it was a problem." He rubbed the back of his neck, as if he was scratching fleas away.

"Definitely not if you don't need your inhaler." Theo supported him, having noticed his ease without it.

"He's right." Maxine said, looking blankly at her sibling. "I thought I'd be better than you though, it was a bit disappointing actually." They had never been competitive when they were children, but this persisted an urge inside of her to improve. She had worked so hard, and although it had paid enough, there was still more work to be done.
