"The dream"

Frowning, Maxine watched Theo as he walked in her direction with Stiles at his side talking his ear off. His heart beat was irregular, and this wasn't the first time she had noticed. It projected random beats to whatever mood he was feeling. She was becoming concerned with him, he hadn't confided in her and it seemed he was putting it off. He would tell her somewhen, there was no point in pushing him and making him close off. After all, she was relieved to see her boyfriend alive and usual, confirming her triggering dream did not happen.

"Scott said he found someone in the woods this morning." Stiles was correct, her brother had discovered her with leaves in her hair and mud tainting her palms. It was definitely not the way she had expected to have awoken.

"I don't remember leaving the house." Max admitted, inviting Theo to hold her hand. "It must have been the alpha."

"How come?" Theo asked lightly, playing with her fingers to stop her nerves from swelling.

"I had the dream, like Scott had. We were by a smoking barrel in a woodsy place, and the alpha came and he... he killed you Theo!"

Theo watched her with hungry eyes, making her heat from more from the fire. Biting her lip, she scooted closer to her male companion, not able to resist his presence. Taking a hold of her jaw, Theo dragged their lips together in a passionate clasp. She could feel the warmth of the fire against one side of her face, causing sweat to bead at her forehead. Grabbing his shoulders, she climb onto his lap, trying to be as close to the boy as possible.

"You're perfect." The teenage boy mumbled against her swollen lips, dragging his nose against hers. On instinct, Maxine's heart fluttered in her chest. He was driving her crazy.

"Shut up and kiss me." With a squeal, Theo flipped them, so that Max was on her back against the fallen, crinkled leaves. Hovering over her, their green eyes connected and he reached down to play with her sprawled hair. And then he resumed, his body going in between her legs.

Then he stopped, pulling back. Blood tumbled from his mouth as he looked desperately at her, some of the residue falling onto her shirt. The alpha could be seen over his weakening shoulder, his great clawed hand pulling Theo's heart out from through his back.

"No!" Despite her anger and immense sorrow, the red eyes didn't look away from her suffering. The alpha had taken everything from her.

"He killed two people out there Max." That wasn't a coincidence. It was like Scott and the bus driver.

"So you're saying I was there when he killed them?" She was disgusted in herself, for being a witness that let humans be slaughtered. Perhaps she had less control than any of them had thought.

"Sort of."

She couldn't take this anymore. None of it was making sense. Glancing up at the trees, she prayed that nature would be on her side if this all went sideways. Maxine was alone in the preserve, just as she had planned to be.

"Get your ass out here you murderous werewolf!" Her shout would have made people think she was crazy if anybody could hear her bellowing. "I'm not asking! You bit me you bitch, and I think it's time we met!"

A rustle was heard, and it made her spin instantly. It was confirmation that it was listening to her rioting. Maybe it had been a bad idea to have came out here all alone in the dead of night without anyone knowing of her whereabouts, but there was no point regretting it now. "Come on!"

It was a male, she could smell it. But she wanted more. It was a necessity if she wanted to remain sane.

"I knew I bit a strong headed one." She was frightened to turn, but she would have to if she wanted his words to be true. "It's okay, I don't bite." The smirk was clear in his voice. What a cold hearted liar.
