Down the road around the bend, the party will find the jeep. Carlos is sitting and waiting in the driver's seat. Whomever has the misfortune to jump into the front passenger seat first (and if they don't bother to make any perception checks) will be surprised to find that it's only the top half of his torso in the seat - his lower half is totally gone. Carlos is VERY DEAD.
There is a yearling velociraptor in a dog-carrier cage in the trunk. Carlos had noticed it had slipped out of the main velociraptor enclosure and was stumbling around; clearly injured. The yearling is supposed to serve as a sort of "draw" to the other velociraptors, making the party targets.
They drive the jeep for a half mile or so, but then the engine light comes on, the hood begins to smoke, and eventually the engine dies and they must come to a stop. Pop the hood. Perform ability checks to try and find out what's wrong with the engine. (I don't know anything about cars, so I just said it overheated and they needed to cool the engine).
Then they hear a weird whistling sound...
