I just can't believe it. The pencil stopped moving. Lead pressed down hard.
Harder.
Snapped.
Eijirou frowned down at the broken stub like it was a surprise, then looked at his notebook, wiped at the mark, erased.
"Oops." He muttered.
"Okay class!" The professor laughed, high fiving the presenting student as they went back to their supplies. "That wraps up today. Remember tomorrow we'll be having groups five through seven presenting tomorrow so-" Her voice rose to be heard over the clatter of chairs and shuffling, "-so have all your shit together!"
Chuckling from the student body as they exited the room, but not Eijirou. Not Katsuki.
They remained. The lecture room was empty now.
"Is there another group coming in after this?" Katsuki felt anxiety welling up within him, which was stupid. It wasn't his problem; not his problem. Not. His-
"Yeah." Eijirou broke through the bubbling worries. "But I just... can't right now, Kat." A warm hand falling over his own as Eijirou slump over his desk. "What do I... do?"
Katsuki froze, weaving his fingers through Eijirou's meticulously; noting every scar, the pattern of his skin, the veins underneath. Breathing deep.
"Shitty Hair." That made Eijirou perk straight up, yanking on their arms though Katsuki refused to let his grip loosen for a second. "What your mom was doing was killing us. Well, them. A version of us." Red eyes stayed staring at hands, thumb rubbing slow, gentle circles. "The oni would have stopped-"
Eijirou frowned, but listened.
"You would have stopped existing." Katsuki closed his eyes for a second, but it felt like an eternity. All the rest of himselves without- "I... we. We had to do something." Katsuki gripped tighter.
"It's just... a lot." Eijirou pulled away, stood. "All at once. Being with you, now I'm taking over the village... the whole fucking-" he slammed his bag down on the desk, getting harsh word from the professor. "S-sorry, ma'am." Eijirou sighed, raking a hand through his hair, tugging his bag over his shoulders. "The whole clan. The entire clan. The clan that hated me for being gay. And now I'm with you, being gay."
"Ei." Katsuki sandwiched his face with a sharp smack. "Calm down. We can take 'em all on if we have to, but we won't cuz we've got everyone on our side. We've got the fucking youkai on our side. We're unstoppable together."
A small smile pressed Eijirou's cheeks to puff against Katsuki's palms. "Thanks bro-"
"Don't call me bro." Katsuki shoved him away with a disgusted grunt. "You've had your dick up my ass. It's insulting."
"It's a term of endearment." Eijirou argued, following him down the stairs and out the door. "Like babe or sweetheart but less... y'know-" He laughed and clapped Katsuki's shoulder at his grimace. "Yeah! Less that!"
"Okay, sure. Bro."
Eijirou recoiled. "No. It's-it's weird when you do it. I'm Hair-for-Brains."
Katsuki bit his cheek to smother the grin, "Oh my God you're fucking insane."
Eijirou shrugged, waving at a couple girls who called out as they passed. "Sure I am, but I'm your insane so... " He shrugged, not finishing the statement.
Katsuki opened his mouth to retort when his phone went off. "Okay so Mom wants to know when the wedding is. Gross." Eijirou snickered, waggling his fingers to show off how bare they were. "And also Tetsu wants us to have dinner tonight, no guests." A pointed look.
