Pag-uwi ko ay nakita ko si Leah sa sofa habang nanunuod ng TV.
"Kamusta dinner niyo?" She said and smiled bitterly
"Ah, okay lang. Did you eat dinner?" I asked.
"Mhm. Eli went here kanina." She said at lumapit saakin.
"You ate dinner together?" I asked at niyakap siya. I don't know why pero I had the mood to hug het tight.
"Yup. Nagsorry din siya dahil hindi siya nakasama sa dinner." Leah said and hugged me back.
Nag-uusap pa kami ni Leah when she said na inaantok na daw siya. Hinayaan ko siya because tomorrow will be a big day for her.
I called Tan to tell him what happened.
"Ah, so okay na sila?" Tan asked.
"I guess so. Hindi naman siguro hahayaan ni Eli na magtampo sakanya si Leah since they're getting engaged tomorrow." I said.
"Yeah. Are you sleepy?" He asked.
"Not yet. Why? Are you?" I asked him.
"A little." He said and I heard a yawn on the other line.
"You should sleep, baby." I said.
I heard him chuckle.
"Whats funny?" I asked.
"Thats the first time you called me baby. It makes me happy." He said.
Well, that is true.
"Sinanay mo ako eh." I said and laughed little.
"Try calling me baby always." He said.
"I can't. Nakakahiya naman sa office." I said.
"Please. It will surely make me happy." He said.
"I'll try." I said.
"Sleep now. I love you baby!" I said and smiled.
"Okay, I love you more baby." He said sweetly.
I ended the call and decided to sleep too.
The night went by fast. May work kami ni Leah so I think mamayang gabi gagawin ni Eli yung plano niya.
The day went by fast too. Parang excited yung mundo sa proposal nina Eli at Leah kaya ang bilis gumalawa ng oras.
"Viv, Eli said na susunduin niya ako. Dinner daw kami." She said habang nag-aayos.
"Sure, Le." I said.
As far as I know Tristan will pick me up here too. He said magpapasama siya sa mall dahil he needs some stuff to buy.
Moments later, Leah said na aalis na siya since Eli arrived already.
Nag-antay pa ako ng ilang minuto bago dumating si Tristan. I also texted Eli saying my good luck to him.
"I'm excited for them." I said and looked at Tristan beside me. We're at the mall already. Nag-iikot nalang kami.
"Halata naman eh." He said and reached for my hand. Pinasalikop niya ang aming mga daliri. I admit, hindi ako sanay pero I feel good while we do it.
We went to many places in the mall. He also bought so much things.
After a while, we decided to eat nalang din sa mall since we got hungry.
We ordered our food and started talking.
"Day off namin buka-" the ringtone of my phone cut me off.
It was Leah calling.
"Viv! Eli just proposed! I said yes!" She sounded so happy on the other line.
"I'm happy for you!" I said.
"Thank you, Viv! Sige na bye na!" She said before ending the call.
"It was a success!" I said happily as I look at Tristan.
"Good for them." He said and smiled.
"I've been so happy these past few weeks, though." I said and my mood suddenly dropped.
"There you go again. If ever something happens, it will never be your fault baby. Not because you're experiencing happiness doesn't mean there will be something wrong that will happen afterwards, okay?" He said.
I just nodded as a response.
We ate our dinner and finally decided to go home.
It was still early so sabi ni Tan, tatambay daw muna siya sa condo namin.
We were sitting in a couch when suddenly my phone rang. It was Eli.
"Hello?" I said. I heard an ambulance on the other line kaya kinabahan agad ako.
"V-Vivianne. P-please help u-us. We g-got in a-an accident and L-Leah is unconscious." He said crying.
"Saang ospital kayo papunta ngayon?" I said na natataranta na, he told me the address kaya dumiretso agad kami ni Tristan doon.
I asked a nurse kung saang room si Leah. We rushed to the room that the nurse said.
I saw Leah's parents crying outside the room. Eli was there sitting too.
"Hi Tita, Hi Tito." I said.
"Eli, kamusta si Leah?" I asked na maluha luha na.
"I don't know, Viv. She was unconscious when we arrived at the hospital." He said and cried.
"How about you? Wala bang masakit sayo?" I asked, worried.
"I'm fine. Mas malala ang lagay ni Leah compared saakin." He said.
Minutes passed when the doctor went out of Leah's respective room.
"Doc, kamusta po ang anak namin?" I heard Leah's mom asked.
"Your daughter is still recovering, Ma'am. But based po sa nalaman ko, there might be a chance na tumagal pa ang pagrecover niya. She is still unconscious at the moment. Swerte lang po na hindi masyadong naapektuhan ang brain niya dahil if that happens there might be a chance na magka amnesia siya." The doctor said.
Tumango lang sina Tita at Tito. Eli is still crying.
"Uhm, Tita. Uuwi nalang po muna ako. Babalik po ako mamaya. I'll sleep here." I said. I know that Tita and Tito still has work. Their pretty much busy when its weekdays. Yan ang pagkakaalam ko.
"Are you sure hija?" Tita asked.
"Pwede naman na kami nalang dito." Tito said.
"Its fine for me, Tita and Tito. Tutal, day off ko naman po kinabukasan." I said.
"Thank you talaga, Hija!" Tita said and hugged me.
Tito smiled at me.
Lumapit ako kay Eli and told him na babalik ako. I went to Tan afterwards, I told him kung pwede ba ang magpahatid sa condo.
"Just leave me sa condo and I'll just get a taxi pabalik sa hospital." I told Tan.
"No, its late already. Baka kung ano pa mangyari sayo." He said.
"Pero Tan-" he cut me off.
"Ihahatid kita sa ospital, Viv." He said with such authority.
"Fine." I said.
I got my things as quickly as I can. Tears were falling too. I'm still blaming myself because of all the tragic things thats happening to my life. Nadamay pa bestfriend ko.
"Calm down, baby." Tan said.
"Why is it that everytime I'm happy laging may kapalit!" I shouted.
"Thats not how it is, baby." Tan said trying to calm me down.
"Some things just happen unexpectedly." He added.
I'm still crying. Its as if everything is my fault.
Tan was beside me trying to calm me down.
"I'm sorry." I said.
"No need to be sorry, baby." He said and hugged me tight.
Minutes past and nakabalik na ako sa hospital. Tita and Tito was still there, Eli too.
"Tita, tito, pwede na po kayo umuwi. You still have work po, right?" I said.
"Thank you very much, hija. Yes we still have work. If something happens or if you need anything call us." Tita said and we exchanged numbers.
"Ingat po kayo." I said and waved at them.
"You should go too." Sabi ko kay Tristan.
"I'll stay here for a while." He said.
"Baby, you still have work. Maaga ka pa bukas. Eli and I can take care of Leah for the meantime." I said and smiled to give him assurance.
"But-" sinubukan pa niya magsalita pero I cut him off.
"You need some sleep, baby. I'll call you if I need anything. Bisita ka nalang bukas." I said.
"Okay. Take care. I love you, baby." He said.
"I love you too. Keep safe, baby. Text me if you arrived at home safely." I said and kissed him on the cheeks.
He just nodded at umalis na.
"Eli." I called him.
Tumingin lang siya saken.
"I brought a pillow. Matulog ka muna. I'll handle it when a doctor or a nurse comes in." I said and binigay sakanya yung unan na dinala ko.
"Are you sure?" He asked.
"Yeah." I said and smiled.
Many things happened today and I must say that,
This day happened to be the best for Leah and Eli but also the worst for the both of them.
