1. Ano pa ang pangarap mong maabot bilang manunulat?
-Marami pa akong pangarap bilang isang manunulat at 'yan ay dahil naniniwala akong wala pa ako sa kalingkinan ng kaya kong marating basta't magsisikap akong abutin ang anumang aking naisin. Una, gusto ko pang lumikha ng napakaraming kwento. Gusto kong sumubok ng iba't ibang genré maliban sa Romance (o ihalo ang Romance sa kahit na anong genré na aking mapipili, bakit hindi) at sa pamamagitan ng mga kwentong ito ay makapagbigay-inspirasyon ako sa maraming tao.Pangalawa, gusto kong makapag-publish ng sarili kong nobela. Iyong nobela at kwentong magiging parte ng buhay ko at kapag nabasa ng ibang tao ay magiging parte na rin ng buhay nila. At kapag dumating ang araw na magawa ko 'yon, sana ay mabasa ito ng mga taong nakasama ko mula una hanggang dulo.
2. Favorite food per category: appetizer, main course, dessert
-I love eating as much as I love cooking! Para sa appetizer, vegetable salad ang pinakapaborito ko. Kani salad, Caesar salad, Tuna salad, Potato salad, Chef salad— you name it. Pagdating naman sa main course, Filipino cuisine talaga ang pinakagusto ko. The classics like Kare-kare, Sinigang, Adobo, kahit anong chicken dish, at marami pang iba. But a good chunk of steak isn't really bad, you know. Lastly, sa dessert, I would say—everything. I think dessert is the highlight of my meal and anything sweet lights up my world. Anything chocolate dessert is definitely my favorite dessert.
3. Ano ang iyong pinaka hindi makakalimutang childhood memory?
-My most unforgettable childhood memory— maybe I'll just share how I transitioned and grew as a writer. It started when I was as young as 8 or 9 years old. Mahilig na akong magsulat ng tula no'n dahil na rin siguro sa mga lessons at performances sa eskwelahan. And when I started sharing my works years after, ang isa sa pinaka-nakakatuwang naisulat ko ay 'yong "Crushed." Collection ito ng mga tula kung saan nando'n 'yong mga naging crush ko simula Kinder. Kinder, yes! Marunong na akong magbigay ng love letter noong Kinder ako at nahuli pa ako ng teacher ko dahil naihulog ko pala 'yong sulat mula sa bag ko. The titles of the poems were after my crushes' names.
4. Mayroon ka bang pets? Tell us about them! At kung wala naman, balak mo bang magkaroon ng pet soon?
-Oo, mayroon akong pet ngayon. He's a Beagle pup and less than four months pa lang siyang nasa amin. His name is Bogart—I argued with my brother's girlfriend because she wanted to name the dog Churros, but in the end, I won. I have always been a cat person and it's my first time after so long to have a pet dog. I love Bogart so much, maybe because I've seen him grow. Mayroon din akong Himalayan cat, si Gray, pero nasa bahay na siya ng girlfriend ng Kuya ko. We have lots of pets at home, even at my brother's girlfriend's house because they're both veterinarians, but I only consider Bogart and Gray as my own pets.
5. Ano ang isang bagay na pinapangako mong hindi mo na gagawin?
-Ang isang bagay na ipinapangako ko nang hindi gagawin ay ang magsayang ng oras. Lalo na ngayon, as of writing, nasa community quarantine tayo. We have lots of time if we're just at home. So, imbis na umupo sa isang tabi o matulog nang matulog, I pledged to be productive every single time that I can. I schedule more religiously now. Pero hindi ibig sabihin na magtatrabaho nang magtatrabaho o mag-aaral nang mag-aaral na lang ako. I also put rest time in my flexible schedules and I focus on self-love lately. It is really helping me to get away from negative and dark thoughts.
6. Paano ba mag sulat ng isang effective na love story?
-For me, the easiest way to write an effective love story is to feel it. Kapag naramdaman mo na 'yong pagmamahal na isusulat mo, madali na lang siyang padaluyin sa puso ng mambabasa mo. But of course, not all of us experience the same great love. Ako, sa sarili ko, single ako. Marunong ba akong magmahal? Yes, definitely. I have loved countless of times (hindi lang naibalik). I know the feeling. So when I write, I just reminisce the feeling and try to let my characters feel it, too. And remember that an effective love story is not always rainbows and butterflies. Aside from the "love," you should also let your readers feel the "hurt." Kasama 'yon sa kahit saang love story. That's the easiest way. For the best way in creating an effective love story, together with your own personal experience, you should also do some research. Ang isang manunulat ay isa ring mambabasa. Find inspirations (but never steal ideas) from other love stories. Maaari ka ring makapulot sa love life ng ibang tao. Explore. Decide you are writing a great love story—and you're already halfway there.
7. Ano ang iyong paboritong pelikula?
-I know I am too late for this because I have just watched it a few days ago kahit 2013 pa 'tong movie na 'to, but it's the Four Sisters and a Wedding. Now I know why this movie is very iconic. From the plot to the framing of scenes, I love it. It tackles about personal, family, ang love issues. Para sa akin, kumpleto rekados na ang pelikula na ito. Wala na akong masasabing iba dahil kung napanuod niyo na 'to, alam niyo na ang sinasabi ko.
8. Tell us a secret.
-Well, I don't know if this is a real secret but here it goes. Isa akong 20 years old na nagsusulat ng Romance pero kahit minsan hindi pa nagkaroon ng boyfriend. That's true, haha! But just to share it with you, ang isang secret ko talaga ay ito. My mom died year 2017, three days before my birthday. She was somewhat proud of my writing but there came a point when she asked me to stop it for a while and focus on my studies. Ito 'yong panahon na isineself-publish ang mga istorya ko. Sobrang nalungkot ako no'n dahil extension na ng buhay ko ang pagsusulat. But now, I hope she's prouder than ever seeing me where I am right now and where else greater place I can be with my hobby-slash-passion.
9. Ibahagi sa amin at iyong mga fans ang iyong pinaka paboritong akda and tell us we should read it.
-Galing dito sa Wattpad ang isa sa pinakapaborito kong akda. Ito ay ang 23:11 ni plsptsya (Ms. Rayne Mariano). Lubos na sinusuportahan ko ang mga manunulat sa writing community na ito. I also read foreign books, pero mas gusto kong basahin 'yong mga "Undiscovered Gems" o underrated na mga istorya.Going back to the book 23:11, what I like about this is not just the story. Years back, na-inspire ako sa style ng pagkakasulat nito. It's an epistolary novel. Gusto ko 'yong paraan ng paghubog ng characters ni Ate Rayne kahit sa ibang stories niya. Isang challenge 'yon lalo na kung epistolary ang tipo ng nobela dahil hindi mo naman mainanarate 'yon. It was the first time I read a story on my phone, then read it again on the actual book, and then fangirl with the author. First time dahil hindi ako mahilig mag-ulit ng isang libro at napakadalang kong bumili ng physical books simula nang naexpose ako sa ebooks. I met Ate Rayne once in an event in Baguio and that was such an experience.As writers, we should not just love the plot and the characters. We should also love the style and uniqueness that comes with it. 'Yon ang dahilan kung bakit ko nagustuhan ang 23:11. Read it to know what I'm talking about.
10. Meron ka bang mensahe para sa iyong mga readers?
- It feels like a dream. Ang masasabi ko lang ay isang walang-hanggan na thank you! Mula sa mga taong naniwala sa akin noong isinulat ko ang one-shot na ManHid, sa mga tumulong sa akin na maiself-publish ang ilan sa mga istorya ko, hanggang sa mga taong patuloy na sumuporta sa akin nang sumali at manalo ang L'île Bachelorette: Jewelle Anne sa Watty Awards 2018—SALAMAT! I've always doubted myself as a writer. All I thought I was just scribbling. But with you, beautiful people who believed in me, I also learned to believe in myself and my writing.Muli, maraming salamat sa inyong lahat at sana ay hindi kayo magsawang makinig sa akin.
