*Forever December*
*Chapter 13*
"Yep, just like that. You're doing wonderful, December, dear." I held my baby girl to my chest. Let's just say breast feeding hurt, and I barely had enough milk for two kids. We'd decided to name her Rian Christine. She was beautiful.
Our son, Rowan Henry, was lying in his father's arms. Roxin still hadn't came to see me. My mother and April had left at least three messages each on his voicemail.
Rian latched on and I squirmed. I wasn't used to this. Rowan was crying loudly. The babies had to stay here until their due date, since they were three months early. It wasn't healthy. They were still working on Rowan. He had breathing problems, since we only saw one of the babies on the sonogram, he'd been squished under his sister, but he was coming along.
Rian didn't have any problems. She was just smaller than the average child. She was only 12 and a half inches, and weighed three pounds even, which scared me. She wasn't supposed to be that little...Even though she was three months early.
I winced as Rian let go of me. She snapped her jaw a few times and cooed up at me. Her hands reached at me, and I pressed my finger to her hand, letting her hand wrap itself around it. I smiled as Rowan stopped crying. He'd been crying for a while now. Parker yawned and ran his fingers through his hair. "Do you want to try with the boy?" The nurse asked. I nodded and held Rian out to Parker.
Parker looked tired. He had bags under his eyes, showing that he was obviously tired. He took Rian and switched me, placing Rowan in my arms.
My son was obviously almost asleep. He'd had a long day out in the new world. I pressed him to the opposite breast that Rian had been at. He immediately latched on. I flinched and sighed, rocking him back and forth. This was going to take some getting used to.
There was a knock on the door. I had most of my body covered by the blanket that Rowan was wrapped in. I nodded at the nurse and she walked to the door, opening the large, brown door and letting in the person standing behind it.
Roxin smiled as he stepped into the room. He looked at Rowan, then spotted Rian in Parker's arms. He looked a bit confused for a moment. He didn't hesitate to glare at my children's father. He obviously didn't want the guy there, but I wasn't going to keep my babies from their daddy.
"Two?" Roxin mumbled, looking at both of the babies. Parker yawned and looked at Roxin. He hesitated before holding Rian out to him.
"Do you want to hold her?" Roxin bit his lip gently and nodded, holding out his hands and taking our daughter.
Parker stood and looked at me. Our eyes locked, and my lips turned into a loving smile. He didn't return it. He leaned down and kissed my forehead as Rowan continued to drink. Parker brushed my hair away from my face and smiled. I could see Roxin tense, but he held Rian close to his chest.
"I'll see you later, okay? I need some sleep." Parker pecked both Twins's foreheads and left the room. Roxin smiled and took a seat where Parker had been sitting.
"What are their names?" He looked at me as Rowan detached from my breast. I patted his back gently.
"Well, that little baby girl you're holding is Rian. And the baby boy I'm burping is Rowan." Roxin chuckled as Rian looked at him. She seemed to grow a large interest in him. Her blue eyes were blinking and staring at him. She was obviously curious.
I sighed in content. I didn't think I'd ever been so happy in my life. My kids. Oh, my kids. I loved them so much.
"I like those names," Roxin began, "she looks just like you. Her face, I mean. Other then that, she looks like the dick."
I gasped and glared at him, "language, young man. We don't cuss in front of the little ones." He laughed and nodded, showing he understood.
I wasn't sad that I'd missed the last half of our Christmas. I'd gotten my Christmas wish only hours later. My babies. I was surprised that I'd had two, instead of one, but that was all right. Who could argue that two wasn't better than one? It also meant two times the money, though.
With my dad being a lawyer, we certainly had the money for the twins, but I didn't want to rely on them. I wanted Parker and I to take care of our children.
I wondered if I made the right choice, saying yes to Roxin. I loved him, but I had a family now. Shouldn't I have thought of them before him? Would he be a good stepfather to Rowan and Rian? I hoped so.
"Hello? Dee? Are you in there?" I looked at Roxin as I snapped out of my thoughts. He chuckled and placed Rian down in her crib that was labeled 'Rian Christine,' beside my bed. I held Rowan out to him, and he took him as well, placing him gently in the other crib, labeled 'Rowan Henry.'
"Sorry. I was thinking," I mumbled, laying my head on my pillow.
"Go to sleep. You need rest," Roxin whispered into my ear. I felt him climb into bed behind me. I didn't push him away, nor hesitate. I took a deep breath and curled up as his long arms wrapped around me. He grasped onto Roxin's shirt gently as he held me to his chest. I slowly fell asleep, thinking about my babies.
