*Forever December*
*Chapter 1*
"Dee! Come on, we're going to be late!"
"December Maree! Get down here!"
"December!"
People screamed my name as I pulled my auburn hair into a tight ponytail and struggled with my lip-gloss. "Coming!" I yelled, craning my neck and throwing my leg over the banister. I slid down and hopped off immediately. My lips twisted into a smile as I grasped a piece of toast from the kitchen. "Morning, dad."
"It's about time. Come on, get out there. Your sister is waiting for you," he grunted. Typical father, he was. April wasn't my real sister, but she was the closest thing that I had to one. She was a foster kid at first, but mom and dad fell in love with her, I guess. And yes, it was a coincidence that our names were both months.
I grinned and pecked him on the cheek with my glossed lips. "Ah! December!" I giggled, watching him wipe the lip marks off of his cheek. I turned, tugged my bag onto my shoulder before leaving the house.
There was a loud honk from the blue Mustang outside. "Hush up! I'm coming!" I yelled, pulling the door open and popping into the passenger's side of the car. My green eyes looked at the brown haired girl beside me.
"Well, it's about time! Gosh, Dee," she mumbled, watching me pluck the seat belt into place. I grinned at her, pushing my headband into my hair.
"April, April, April. You nag too much. Just drive and hush up, all right?" She rolled her green eyes and floored the peddle of the car. I squealed, but I was used to it. It was the same routine. I'd get up late and April would be waiting for me in the car. Then she'd go crazy-psycho-girl and drive like a maniac.
"Get out," April stuck her tongue out at me. I snorted and threw my arms around my sister, kissing her cheek as she tried to push me away. "I love you too, sissy!" I yelled, chomping on my toast and trucking my bag over my shoulder before hopping out.
The bell rang loudly as I stepped through the doors of Lanson High school. It was like every other High School in the world. Boring and High Schoolie. But, I wasn't like every other girl in the world. I wasn't one of those 'oh no, my life is over! I have a pimple!' kind of girls. More of a....braniac? Well, whatever.
I made my way to my locker quickly, stuffing my bag into it before extracting what I needed. "Dee!" I jumped as hot air blew onto my neck.
