Hazel moves to Riverdale after her mother was murdered by her father, seeking refuge with her cousin Toni Topaz. When a certain tall serpent catches Hazel's eye, she forgets everything she believes and has to face her past and future all at once.
•P R O L O G U E• "You're a bitch you can't tell me what to do" the man yells at his wife. "John please calm down you are going to scare Hazel" the scared mother pleads. "mom, what's wrong" the chestnut haired girl asked her mother as she walked through the door. "Hazel why don't you go to Angelica's house for tonight" her mother suggests. Hazel leaves, not knowing the terrible events that would take place in her absence. The next day Hazel went back to her house only to see police cars and tape around her property. She ran up to an officer and asked what was going on. "I can't discuss an investigation with anyone but family" the officer says. "b-but I live here with my parents-" Hazel looks to her right and sees her father being escorted into a police car, covered in blood. Not to soon after she sees a body bag being put into the ambulance. She runs up to the bag, officers running after her. She looks at the body and starts to weep at the sight of her mother, dead. "W-what happened" she turns to the same officer. "Your father, um murdered your mother, I'm so sorry" the officer replies. Hazel stands there tears streaming down her face, "do you have any family you can move in with, or we could get you a social worker to work things out" the officer asks Hazel. Hazel just nods and asks if she could go into her house and grab a couple things. The officer says yes and follows her into the house. She packs a bag with some things and leaves the house, looking at the large pool of blood in the living room. She walks over to the family picture displayed in the living room, looking back to the officer asking if she could take it with her. The officer talks to the sheriff and he says she can take it. She takes the photo and thanks the officer. Walking to the bus station she thinks about where she can go.
