Hazel moves to Riverdale after her mother was murdered by her father, seeking refuge with her cousin Toni Topaz. When a certain tall serpent catches Hazel's eye, she forgets everything she believes and has to face her past and future all at once.

Hazel "Jughead called, he and McCoy are with Fangs right now" Sweet Pea informs me. I am on the couch barely paying attention to what show was on.
"Okay" I reply. "How have you been" he asks. "Well my best friend is in jail for a murder he didn't commit and a rival gang is gunning for me" I muttered. He sits down and wraps an arm around me.
"The mayoral debate is tonight I say we go there and give the Lodges hell" he smiles. "Yay something else to focus on" I mumble.

"Let's sit right here" Sweet Pea gestures to a seat. I sit down next to him and rest my head on his shoulder. He rubs my stomach gently and I smile. "Welcome one and all to tonight's mayoral debate" Alice Cooper announces.
"Jumping right in, fear and unrest rule the streets. Hermione Lodge, how would you restore safety to the town" Alice Cooper questions.
"Well we're already making strides Alice, my husband and I personally recruited Sheriff Minetta from centreville after Tom Keller resigned." I roll my eyes at her statement.
"Not one week on the job, and he's apprehended Midge Clumps killer" Clapping erupts through the room. I stand up in frustration and walk out of the room. I try to calm myself by thinking about my baby. How Sweet Pea would take care of us no matter what.
Suddenly I hear gunshots through the hall. I run into the nearest room I could find, a broom closet. My heart begins to race and all I wanted was Sweet Pea by my side. I start to cry heavily, the beginning of a panic attack.
"Hazel, Hazel" I hear the voice of Sweet Pea but I am unable to speak. The door opens and Sweet Pea bends down to hold me. He kisses my head and tells me that everything is going to be okay.
"Hazel it's okay now no one can hurt you" he cooes. I listen to his heartbeat and try to calm myself down. "We have to go to the police station to see Fangs" he informs me.
"Okay, let's go" I say with a sniffle. He keeps his arm around my waist the entire walk from town hall to the police station.
"Fangs" I gasp, seeing him behind bars. "The sunshine in everyone's rainy days, Hazel Burns" he chuckles. I smile at his words but notice something different. "Where is your necklace?" I question.
"They took it" he sighs. "They're releasing him" Jughead states. I smile as the officer unlocks the steel bar door. We all immediately hug him tightly.
"There are people rioting all around the police station." Toni exclaimed. "I don't wanna die" Fangs cried. "Hey, you're not going to" Jughead said. "Look at me okay" Jughead states. "We stand together so none of us falls" Jughead announced.
"In unity there is strength" he states. "In unity there is strength!" We yell, each other in hand.
We rush out the doors to the police station and push through the crowd, protecting Fangs. A few older serpents were pushing people away from Fangs to protect him.
A small fight broke out between a serpent and a protester, leaving an opening in the circle. A single shot rings in our ears as we look around for who was hurt.
The pool of blood on Fangs' shirt was enough of a sign that he was hit. He falls to the ground and I bend down to his side, applying pressure to the wound. Tears sting my eyes as I look at my best friend's blood on my hands.
"Fangs it's going to be okay I promise, I won't let you die"
