Patton drove up to a small house he had never seen before. It was on the outskirts of town, where most crime took place. As Patton pulled into the driveway, Dan was leaning against a pole by the front door. He watched as Patton got out of the car and went to go help his cousin.
Dan looked at Patton up and down while he was having a conversation with Virgil. His hair was like a blonde mop on top of his head. He was small and petite and looked pretty sweet. If you were to ask Dan, he looked pretty hot.
"buuuuut I hhhave to be spiderman and ssafh thhhe town..!" Virgil slurred as he stared off into space. Laughing gas really does live up to its reputation. Patton just giggled and nodded.
"I know, Virgil. Even a superhero needs his rest, though."
Patton's voice sent a shiver down Dan's spine. There was something captivating about him.
"aaaAhH, it'sssss thhhe monssthur!" Virgil exclaimed and hid behind Patton, pointing at Dan.
"Whhhhoopth!" Virgil somehow then managed to trip and fell on his face. He just started laughing as Patton helped scoop him up. He then felt a figure take Virgil from him.
"Here, sugar. I've got him for you."
Patton looked at Dan and simply smiled. "It's really my pleasure. Someone's got to take care of him." The cheerful man laughed.
Dan knew from the moment he locked eyes with Patton that he wanted him. He wanted him badly and he wasn't going to let anyone get in his way.
"Dhun't lhhheave me wihhhth hhhim!" Virgil whined, trying to go back into Patton's arms. Patton simply laughed and ruffled Virgil's hair, which he knew Virgil hated.
"C'mon, buddy. It's only till this stuff wears off."
"And wHHHHO thold you to do ssssuch a thhhhtupid thing?" Virgil narrowed his eyes at Patton, for he knew Patton couldn't answer a question with no answer--
"You did."
"WhhhhHAT?" Virgil pointed at himself and looked offended. Dan just rolled his eyes at his cousin. He was ashamed that he and this stupid pillow fort were related.
Patton, however, simply laughed at his friend's more-than-usual childish behavior. It's regular for Virgil to smile once or twice every week. He usually keeps to himself and the silliest he'll ever be is occasionally cracking a joke.
"Ok, Virgil. Let's get you inside." Dan said, trying to put on a good face for Patton. Virgil simply bitch-slapped Dan and walked back over to Patton, swaying a bit.
"Ihm naht goin' anywhhhhere with you." Virgil announced, starting to lie down on the sidewalk. Dan rolled his eyes and grabbed a nearby spray bottle, spraying him.
"aaAAAH!"Virgil abruptly sat up and Patton began helping him.
"Here, let me help you, Virgil. Cmon, get up." He said as he lifted Virgil back up, putting Virgil's arm around his neck so he had some support.
"Okk, thhhanks. You're thhhe best."
"Mhm, just walk to the door, ok?"
"It smells like chhhicken soup." Virgil laughed.
"I know." Patton replied kindly, like a mother trying to comfort a child.
"Where are we going?" Virgil asked, as if he suddenly forgot everything that just happened.
"In the house. I just wanna say goodbye, ok?"
"But I'll be back." Virgil said, confused. Patton led him into the house and into the living room, lying him on the couch.
"Yes I know, but it's going to be different."
"Why?"
"It's just..hard to explain." Patton answered, knowing he wouldn't be able to explain this to a high Virgil. He also didn't bother because he knew Virgil wouldn't remember any of this.
"Awww, Patton, you're adorable." Virgil laughed, booping Patton's nose.
"Oh my goodness! Come here." Patton smiled and hugged Virgil, who hugged him back.
"Ohh, huggy hugs!" Virgil said, before letting go and lying on the couch, already passing out. Patton smiled and tucked Virgil in. He then turned around to see Dan sitting on the chair looking at him.
"So what's a catch like yourself hanging around with my brother?" Dan asked, his dark, smooth voice like a spell that drew Patton in.
"Oh, he's just my roommate."
"Right. I'm so sorry you're forced to live with him. He's so..boring. You seem so bright and full of life."
Patton shrugged and smiled. "He tried not to like me, but I've been told I have an effect on people."
Dan smirked and nodded. "Well, they're right."
Patton looked at his watch, realizing he had to get back to the university for his classes pretty soon. He looked back up at Dan who had stood up and moved closer to Patton.
"Hey, I'd better get going. Just call me when Virgil wants to come home." The cheery boy smiled, grabbing his wallet and making sure he had everything he needed. Dan took Patton's hand and moved even closer.
"C'mon, sunshine. Why don't you stay a little longer? I'll take you out and we can talk."
Patton felt his heart beat faster as he grew more nervous. He didn't know if it was in a good way or not, but he assumed good since nobody's ever made him feel like this before. He knew he had to get back to class, but he wasn't sure whether or not Dan was going to let him.
"I-I uh...well, I'd love to but--"
"Great! You won't regret meeting me, sunshine. You'll have the time of your life~!" Dan smirked and dragged Patton outside to his car.
"W-what about Virgil?" Patton asked, trying to get out of this 'date' with some stranger he just met. Dan simply wasn't going to hear no for an answer.
"He's 18 years old, he can take care of himself." He replied as he ushered Patton into the car.
"I-I guess so." Patton said. He gave up trying to go back to class. He knew it'd be rude to try to duck out of it even if he could. Dan climbed into the drivers seat and backed out of the driveway. He talked to Patton the entire ride, and Patton tried to listen respectfully, but he couldn't help but feel a little uncomfortable.
Dan seemed to notice how tense Patton was. He put his hand on the nervous boy's shoulder and smiled at him. "Don't look so afraid, sunshine. I don't bite."
Patton nodded and smiled, laughing a bit. Dan was right. Patton had nothing to worry about. It was just one date. He was sure nothing would ever really come of it.
One date couldn't hurt.
