Logan's p.o.v.
I've never gone to a carnival. I never saw the point of things like roller coasters, ferris wheels, ring toss, etc. To me they were all just easy ways for you to waste your money for a short period of exhilaration. However being here with Patton changed my view entirely.
"So, what would you like to do first?" I inquired, looking at him. He met my eyes and smiled brightly. He was beginning to relax around me, which I found to be quite rewarding.
"I get to choose?" He asked excitedly.
I nodded. "Of course you do."
Patton looked around at all of the rides and attractions, trying to figure out which one he wanted to participate in first. After a few moments of consideration, he grabbed my hand and led me to a..weird contraption. I'd never seen it before. He clearly saw my confusion, so he explained it for me.
"My mama called this ride the 'salt and pepper shakers.' They're really fun, but they make you really dizzy. That ok?"
I shrugged. "As long as you're happy, I can live with any motion sickness I may encounter."
Patton looked at me, seemingly surprised that I had complied with his request. We got in the short line and waited for our turn. Patton was practically bouncing with excitement as we slowly got to the front of the line. Eventually it was our turn. The man working the machine recommended that we put our glasses in a small compartment beside him. We did as we were told, and then climbed into the machine.
The compartment that we were expected to fit into was quite small. Patton got in first, and I followed. We were pressed up against each other, and I felt the blood rise to my cheeks. The man pulled a bar up to our hips and then closed the door to the compartment. I started to grow quite nervous, having no idea what to expect.
Suddenly, Patton put his hand on mine and gave me a reassuring smile. It was then I knew that I'd be ok. Even if I wasn't, however, I'd still have him. I gave him a quick smile back and closed my eyes as the ride began to move.
It was slow at first, but then began to speed up. It went in a circle, but the catch was the compartment we were in was spinning too. The ride seems to live up to its name.
"Open your eyes!" Patton laughed as we went around and around. I listened, and slowly opened my eyes. I couldn't help but smile and I even began to laugh. Patton laughed with me and shrieked every time we went upside down. He was even so bold to lift his hands off of the bar holding us down.
"I'm the king of the world!!" He shouted, laughing. I smiled and raised my arms with him.
"As am I!" I announced to the world, unsure if anyone could really hear me, and not caring either way. My stomach dropped every time we went around, and at times I felt like I was weightless and floating through the air.
Eventually the ride stopped and we had to get off. The man let us out and I stood, stumbling a bit from all the spinning. I got my glasses and made my way to the end of the line, waiting as Patton caught up to me. He was giggling like crazy, and had to hold onto my shoulder as not to fall.
"That..was..amazing!" Patton screeched.
"I'm in full agreement with you, Patton. That was..exhilarating." I smiled.
"Sooo, Lo. What should we do next? It's your turn to pick."
I felt myself blush at the nickname. I quickly hid my face by turning around, looking back at all of the rides. I saw one that began to rise into the air and starting spinning. There were swings attached to them and they spun with the ride.
