Patton's p.o.v.
I bent down and stretched my hand out for the cat to sniff. Once he realized that I wasn't a threat, he rubbed the side of his head against my hand, inviting me to give him pets. I laughed and pet him behind the ears.
"That's Bernie. Lydia brought him home recently from a shelter."
"He's adorable!" I exclaimed.
"Indeed." Logan said as he hung his bag up behind the door. He adjusted the sleeves of his long-sleeve button down. I wondered why he'd need a sweater and a long sleeve shirt, but I figured it was no big deal. I took my shoes off and placed them on the mat.
"You have a really nice place." I said, smiling.
He shrugged. "I suppose. It's quite snug, but it's home. Anyways, you can go look around if you'd like. I'm going to see if there's anything edible around here."
Logan walked off to the kitchen and I stood by the door for a few more seconds. I walked down the hall past the kitchen and saw the living room. There was a tv in the corner and a couch, but other than that there was nothing too interesting. I turned to go up the staircase. I smiled as a few pictures lined the walls.
There was one of Logan when he was really little, holding a spelling bee certificate. He was smiling from ear to ear and his glasses had tape holding them together. He looked the happiest that I've ever seen him. The next picture was of Lydia holding a newborn baby. I squinted a bit and was shocked to see that the baby was Logan. I couldn't help but smile. He was adorable.
The next picture was Logan when he was a bit older than the spelling bee photo. He was holding a science fair trophy for best exhibit. He was smiling, but not as wide as the other one. The next photo was him and Lydia sitting on a bench in the woods. Lydia was smiling, but Logan was barely even smirking. The last photo on the wall was Lydia standing next to Logan. He was wearing a gown and cap, so this must've been his high school graduation. Lydia had her arm around him and was smiling wide and gave him bunny ears. Logan, on the other hand, wasn't smiling. He just stared straight face into the camera.
I frowned. It seems that the older he got, the less happier he became. It made me worried how his mental health was nowadays. I shook my head and finished walking up the stairs. I'd ask him later. There was a small hallway that had four doors. I peered into the first one, and I immediately knew it was Logan's room. His walls were a light grey, and the only thing on them were sticky notes. On them he just wrote chicken scratch about big brain stuff I couldn't quite read. He had a desk in one corner of his room and his bed on the other. The only color was the navy blue comforter.
I sat down on his bed and it was actually a lot comfier than I'd imagine it to be. He's always so cold and stiff, it's kinda funny to think he'd be so soft.
"You appear to be getting quite comfortable." Logan said, walking in holding two plates of toast. I jumped up and blushed, feeling embarrassed for whatever reason.
"S-sorry, it's just--"
"No apologies, remember?"
"Oh, right." I said, fighting the urge to say sorry again.
"Anyways, I was thinking we could watch a movie of sorts downstairs if you'd like." He offered. I took one of the plates from him and smiled, nodding.
We headed back downstairs and sat on the couch. Logan drew the blinds and grabbed a blanket. He sat down next to me and turned on the tv.
"It gets chilly after a while down here. Lydia lashes out when I even think about touching the thermostat." Logan said, throwing a blanket over me. I smiled and got comfortable as he scroll through things to watch.
"I usually watch documentaries, so I'm not very well acquainted with movies. Would you like to pick?" He asked, handing the remote to me. I nodded and took it from his hand. I scrolled through Disney+ until I decided we'd watch Up. I clicked on the icon and the movie began to play.
I obviously cried my eyes out in the first few minutes, and Logan was kind enough to hand me some tissues. I quietly thanked him as I tried to pull myself together. It didn't work until the movie started to get happy again. After that I started to eat the toast Logan gave me. It was pretty good, especially the jam. I'd have to ask Logan what brand he gets later.
We were silent for most of the movie. Somewhere along the way Bernie hopped up onto the couch and plopped himself right down on Logan's lap. I held back a giggle as I watched him pet Bernie as he never took his eyes away from the screen. I could hear the cat purr and eventually he closed his eyes and took a nap.

Once the movie finished, I let the end credits play. I turned to Logan to ask him what he wanted to do next, but he, along with Bernie, was asleep. He was leaning his head on his one hand, and his other was next to Bernie. I smiled at the adorable sight that I was fortunate enough to see.
I decided to get up and head home, even though Dan would probably still be there. I began to stand up, but Logan shifted a bit and gently grabbed my arm. He didn't say anything or move after that. It was a simple act that he probably won't even remember doing. I sat back down and he relaxed again, his hand falling from my arm to my hand. I could feel myself blush.
Bernie slowly opened his eyes and looked at me. He stood from Logan's lap and started rubbing his head against Logan's arm. He meowed softly and began nibbling on the end of his sleeve. I giggled softly as I pet Bernie. Though, I couldn't help but wonder why he was so obsessed with Logan's sleeve.
Then it hit me like a brick. I started to get anxious as I eyed Logan's sleeve. First off, I was probably overreacting. Secondly, how would a cat be so smart as to try and give me a sign. I looked at Bernie and he looked up at me for a few seconds, before continuing nibbling. I had two options. Be a good friend and mind my own business, or be a bad friend and do the opposite.
I decided to be a bad friend. Even if I pried, it would probably be nothing. But I can't stand around and do nothing if Logan's really in pain. I moved slowly and quietly so I wouldn't wake Logan. I slowly unbuttoned his sleeves and slowly began lifting them up from his wrist.
Suddenly he jerked his hand away from me.
"Patton, what on earth are you doing?"
