Patton's p.o.v.

"Pat? You awake, pops?" Virgil asked me. I groaned and forced my eyes open. Everything was extremely bright, and my I had a pretty bad headache. Roman and Virgil were looming over me. Virgil was smirking and Roman was shaking excitedly.

"Yep, kiddo. I'm up."

"Good. Get dressed we're going on an adventure." He said simply.

I sat up, confused. I felt the blood rush to my head really fast and I got really dizzy for a few seconds and my vision went spotty. When it passed, I put on my glasses and checked the time on the clock by my bed. It was 6:45 in the morning.

"You're never up this early." I said as I threw my covers away, standing up. I was still pretty dizzy from last night and my head hurt really bad. Roman handed me two pills and a glass of water. I smiled and thanked him, putting the pills in my mouth and drinking the whole glass of water.

I put on a simple, soft knit sweater Virgil got for me when he went shopping with Roman. It was smooth and white like a cloud and I'd definitely wear this to sleep if I wanted to. Since all my khakis were dirty, I decided to go with some light blue jeans. I put on my fuzzy cat socks and then my boots.

Virgil smirked and ruffled my hair. "Ya look real classy today, Pat."

I smiled and gave him a thumbs up. "So do you, kiddo!"

We walked out of the dorm and out to Roman's car. Virgil and Roman got the front seat while I got the whole back to myself. We began backing out of the parking lot and soon we were on the highway. Virgil and Roman talked quietly to themselves and giggled occasionally. I looked out the window at the passing scenery and couldn't help but yawn.

"You wanna listen to music while we drive to get breakfast? You can borrow my earbuds if so." Virgil offered, handing me his earbuds. I thanked him and connected them to my phone and began playing calming instrumental music. I watched as we passed a river that I think had something to do with one of the presidents and boats. I think.

I began fiddling with the ring that I had almost forgot was on my finger. I just realized that I didn't even really get a good look at the ring. I looked down and saw a simple gold band. It was simple and kinda pretty but every time I looked at it all I felt was sad.

Wanting to take my mind off of everything, and also because I was pretty curious, I leaned my head up between Virgil and Roman. "Sooo, where are we going?"

Roman thought for a moment and then smirked. "The observatory."

My eyes lit up. I always loved space. Mainly because I knew a lot of good jokes about space. I decided to save them for when we got there.

"So anyways. Patton, how're you holding up?"  Virgil asked, looking in the mirror to meet my eyes. I shrugged and smiled.

"Just as happy as usual, kiddo. No need to worry."

Roman and Virgil shared a weird look and then the conversation ended just as quickly as it began.

"Roman, you were supposed to keep heading straight, why did you take that exit??" Virgil yelled at him.

"BECAUSE I'M GAY!" Roman yelled back, causing me to start laughing. Virgil couldn't help but snicker as well.

"I'll let that one slide but seriously you need to get back on the highway."

"Do I? I could take the windy, not straight back roads."

"Wow ok you're taking this bit way too far." (Pshh no I'm not)

"Virgil I haven't gone far enough. I might as well just start swerving and--"

"Uhh, I don't want to get arrested or hit a tree so let's not."

Roman groaned. "Ugh, you never let me do anything fun."

Virgil turned up the volume to the music in the car, and Into The Unknown was playing. Roman started belting.

"EVERY DAY'S A LITTLE HARDER, AS I FEEL MY POWER GROOW!"

Roman began paying more attention to the music than driving.

"DON'T YOU KNOW THERE'S PART OF ME THAT LOOOONGS TO GOOOOOOO," Roman sang. I couldn't help but feel a bit of deja vu.

"Uhh, Roman, you might wanna slow down there's a red light--"

"INTO THE UNKNOOOOOOOOWN!"

"Roman, you're getting real close to the red light."

"INTO THE UNKNOOOOOOOWN!"

"Rom--"

"INTO THE UNKNOOOOOO--"

"ROMAN THE RED LIGHT!"

Roman finally came out of his Disney trance but before he could stop it was too late. We ran a red light and we almost died. Thankfully everyone stopped in time but we just kept on driving.

"Oh my god." Roman said as police sirens began going off behind us.

"HAHAHAHAAAAA WOW OH MY GOD." Virgil started dying of laughter.

"Virgil, shut up!" Roman yelled as he pulled over.

"Don't you mean shuttle up?" I said, using one of my space jokes. Virgil laughed even harder.

"NoW iS noT tHE tIMe!"

When the police officer knocked on the window, we all grew extremely quiet. Though Virgil and I couldn't help but snicker and giggle a few times.

"Ok never let me drive again." Roman ordered us as he got into the passengers seat while Virgil decided to drive the rest of the way.

"Oh, trust me, we won't." Virgil said, laughing. Roman rolled his eyes and looked at the clock, frowning a bit.

"And now we're behind schedule! They're probably already there by now!"

I tilted my head. "Who's already there by now?"

"No one!" Both Virgil and Roman said at the exact same time. I started to get suspicious as to what was going on. I turned my inner Watson on and began thinking. Virgil was up before me willingly, and that never happens. We're going to an observatory, even though Virgil hates anything educational, and now we're meeting people there?

I thought about it for the remaining half hour of the drive. Roman was frantically texting someone. When I snuck a look from behind the seat all the name said was "Ly"

Add more suspicion to my list cause now Roman is texting an unknown person.

Yet as Virgil pulls into the parking lot, paying a small fee to get in, I realize what they've been trying to do this whole time. He parks beside a white Toyota Prius and as if on cue, Logan and whom I can only assume is his sister step out of the car.

Oh no.
