Patton's p.o.v.
Roman went full out on the salon. First we got pedicures. Roman chose a dark red for his nails, Virgil chose a dark purple, almost black color, and I chose clear. I've painted my nails before for the fun of it, and Dan did not like them. That was well over a year ago.
Roman and Virgil laughed and made jokes and tried to engage me in their conversation, but I just smiled and nodded along with them. I didn't feel like talking much today. I know it's kinda selfish and unfair to refuse to socialize and bring the mood down, but then again...
Being forced to marry someone isn't very fair either.
I shake my head and force those thoughts out of my head. I can worry about all that later. Right now Roman and Virgil are just trying to make me feel better, and I should take what I can get. They really are the best friends I could ask for.
After we got our nails done, the kind ladies styled our hair. Roman's hairdresser made him look like a prince from a Disney movie. Virgil was picking out hair dyes, because that was the only thing he was allowing the hair dresser to do.
"What do you guys think? Keep it black and touch up on my roots, or go for some purple?"
"Virgil, why would you dye your hair black if it's already black?" I asked. Roman nodded and made a face as he thought for a moment. He then made the most dramatic sounding gasp I've ever heard.
"viRGIL! Is black not your natural hair color??"
Virgil grumbled and slumped down farther in his chair. "My natural hair is ugly, leave me alone."
Roman rolled his eyes and huffed. "Alright then, hot topic."
"Aww, you think I'm hot."
As my hairdresser began to style my hair, I saw Roman call over Virgil's hair dresser while he was getting his hair bleached. Virgil decided to go with purple, but Roman handed the lady a few bills and whispered something in her ear. She nodded and then went back over to Virgil and looked closely at the top of his head before going in the back to retrieve something.
The kind lady who was doing my hair talked with me about what I wanted to do with my hair. I told her to trim it a bit, but I just wanted it to be styled in a natural yet neat fashion. Usually I let my hair do its own thing, but Dan doesn't like that, so I figured we'd compromise.
Once Roman and I are done with our hair, we sit on a small couch by the door and chat while we wait for Virgil's hair to be finished.
"How do you think he'll look with purple hair?" I ask.
Roman just giggles and shrugs. "I don't think we'll ever know."
I raise an eyebrow. "What do you--"
"What the fuck??!?!" I hear Virgil shout as he storms to the front. He folds his arms and his beanie is covering all of his hair. He turns to the lady behind him and starts shouting at her about how he wasn't paying because of what she did. Roman stood and hugged Virgil from behind, prevent him from doing anything too rash.
Virgil struggled for a bit, but eventually surrendered to Roman's hug. "Now love, is that any way to treat her after she put time and effort into your beautiful hair?"
"But she got the color wrong! It looks exactly like my natural hair--wait. Princey, what did you do?"
Roman giggled and let go of Virgil before snatching the beanie off his head. Roman gasped and put his hands over his mouth and I just smiled and started freaking out.
"Aww, kiddo! It's an amazing color!"
Virgil frowned and tried to grab the hoodie back from Roman. When that didn't work, he tried to hide himself in his hoodie. Roman smiled and kissed Virgil on the cheek.
"Don't hide yourself from us, my love. You look absolutely ravishing." He put Virgil's hood back down to reveal his hair. His ginger hair fell in front of his face as he looked down at the floor. It wasn't a bright orange, it was actually a darker, richer orange.
Virgil was absolutely killing it, though.
"I know it's bad, stop staring.." He mumbled, folding his arms. I walked over to him and gave him a hug. Roman joined in with me.
"C'mon, Virge. You should be proud of who you are! Besides, that hair color looks really good on you!"
Virgil sighed. "No offense, Patton, but I don't think I can believe you. You'd never say anything to hurt a fly, let alone my feelings."
"I have to agree with Patton, darling. If only you could see what I see. You wouldn't be doubting your beauty for a second." Roman said.
"Well you just have to say that." Virgil huffed.
"Um, actually, you look, like, really hot. Like, you wanna go out to dinner sometime?" One of the hairdressers asked. Roman looked up and glared at her.
"uM excUSE me he is taken and if you even think of looking longingly at him one more time I swear I will--"
"Roman, be nice!" I said, feeling kinda bad for all the drama we've caused these women who are just trying to do their jobs. He sighed.
"Fine, I suppose she was complimenting Virgil, after all. But he is M I N E ."
"Y-Yes, sir." She said and ran to the back. Roman smiled and kissed Virgil before taking his hand and walking out the door. Virgil grabbed my hand as well, dragging me along.
"I'll send in a check later today. Adios!" Roman called out as he climbed back into the limo. Virgil held the door open for me as I climbed in and then he got in to. He shut the door and sat down beside Roman.
Virgil lied down on the seat and rested his head on Roman's chest. Roman put his arms around him and gently stroked his hair as Virge took a nap. I frowned and looked out the window. I felt envious at the relationship Virgil and Roman shared. I've never had that with Dan.
The only person I could think of doing things like that with is..Logan.
"You're a bad liar, Patton."
"What?" I looked over, and Roman was smiling sadly at me.
"I know you don't want to marry Dan. We both do. I can not pretend to know what's going on in your life, but all I know is..when you truly love someone, you'll know. Sometimes loving someone can be a bit testing, but it shouldn't take everything out of you. I can tell how tired you are and how empty you get when Dan is mentioned. That's not what love is."
I didn't say anything. He just continued.
"Love is a gut feeling. Even when you are fighting, or if times are rough, you'll still know deep down that you love them. If you truly feel that for Dan, I'll understand, but...I believe that a certain cashier is the true thief of your heart."
