Valeria

Cameron took me to the doctor's office, and she checked my stitches. Everything was healing, and the doctor removed them. It felt good to have them removed since they itched. I still had to be careful so that I didn't reopen the surgical area.

Afterward, the doctor leads me to a room, and I sat down in a recliner. A nurse helped the doctor with situating me with the IV to administer the chemo. Once they connected everything, the doctor turned on the machine. I sat there as the chemo dripped through the tube, moving into my arm.

I stayed in the chair for a few hours until the doctor returned, turning off the machine. They removed the needle and placed a bandage on my arm.

"Now, this is the first treatment. Each treatment will worsen, making you ill. You will experience vomiting, fatigue, loss of appetite, and hair loss. It will hinder your immune system, which you might develop an infection," the doctor advised me.

"But I feel okay," I mentioned.

"It's the beginning of treatment. As it progresses, so will your reaction to the chemo. I will provide anti-nausea medicine to help with your appetite. Valeria, you're having aggressive treatment," the doctor reminded me.

I nodded and stood up. I felt okay, but I didn't know how the next treatment would go. I came out to see Cameron waiting for me. He saw me and stood up. We went out to the car, and I got into the back.

"How are you feeling?" Cameron asked.

"A little tired. I haven't experienced the rest of the side effects yet. I'm in for a real treat," I joked.

"You don't say," Cameron mentioned.

"Yes, I will lose my hair, making me even more hideous along with weight. Oh, and I might eat but will throw it back up. No one will want someone that has no breasts, hair, and emaciated. I expected much," I mentioned.

Cameron furrowed his brows. It was a hard truth. One that I had to face alone. All I could do now is survive the treatments. I had a feeling it would be rough.

After my first treatment, I went back. Each treatment was more difficult than the last. My body started reacting to the treatments. Then it happened. When we got back to the beach house, I ran inside and up to the bathroom.

I grabbed the toilet as I heaved. My body revolted as I continued. Cameron ran after me, seeing me in the bathroom, sick. I wanted it to stop.

"Oh, God! Make it stop!" I yelled as I heaved.

Cameron knelt next to me, holding my head and supporting me.

"Please!" I screamed until I finished throwing up.

Cameron let go of me as I laid my head on the toilet seat. He stood up and grabbed a washcloth, wetting it. He walked over to me and helped clean me up.

"You need not clean me," I whispered.

"Sure, I do. No one wants to reek of vomit," Cameron teased.

I looked at him. I would have laughed, but I didn't have the energy. He looked at me as my head laid on the seat.

"You will survive this," Cameron told me.

"I fooling myself. I'm not strong," I whispered.

"Sure you are, you're having a party now. When you feel better, then we can have a real party," Cameron mentioned, smiling.

I closed my eyes and fell asleep.

I lifted Valeria in my arms and carried her to bed. Each day seems worst than the previous day. I laid her down and picked up a blanket, covering her with it. Hopefully, Valeria can get some sleep.
