At 4:34 AM, Dean and Sam snuck quietly out the back door with their duffel bags of supplies and walked around Bobby's house to the Impala out front. They were startled by Castiel standing at the Impala.

"What are you two doing?" Cas asked in a rather loud voice.

"Cas! Will you quiet down?" Dean hissed," Don't let Y/n know what's happening."

"You're leaving her behind?" Cas asked indignantly," Dean. She wants to go."

"Yeah... that's not happening," Sam said, opening the back of the Impala, tossing his bags into the trunk," She's good, but... what happened with the demon? We don't know what happened and I'm afraid it'll be too much for her."

"You're underestimating her," Cas said sternly," You of all people should understand that."

"And I do," Dean said," But-..."

"No buts Dean," Cas said," I healed her. She's at full strength again. You should give her another chance."

"Cas, I understand you want to help," Dean said," But this isn't the first time she's gotten hurt on a hunt. Alright? And I can't bear another episode of her getting wounded."

Cas closed his eyes for a moment, and when he opened them again, he didn't say anything more about it. Dean tossed his bag into the trunk and was about to close it when Cas held his hand up and stopped him.

"I'll close it," he said," I can do it much quieter than you can."

Dean eyed him suspiciously, then nodded," Alright," before he and Sam jogged off to their respective seat and hopped inside. Cas shut the trunk, indeed, a lot quieter than Dean could've. Then he climbed into the backseat without another word.

Dean made it to the halfway point in a few hours at a constant speed of 90 mph. Cas wasn't unused to the speed. He could fly faster with his wings. He did have concern for the cargo in the back. In the trunk, more specifically. He was starting to regret. But he couldn't share them because it would compromise everything.

He was intensely relieved when they stopped. He got out quickly and walked to the back of the Impala. Dean noticed and nudged Sam. Sam pulled his earbuds out and gave Dean a questioning look.

"Do you think something's off with Cas?" Dean asked, his face stone cold.

"I don't know, is there?" Sam asked.

Dean gave Sam an annoyed glare as he stepped out. He walked around to Cas who was leaning against the trunk.

      "Something wrong Cas?" Dean asked.

"What? No, nothing's wrong," Cas said, turning around and leaning on the trunk," Why do you think something's wrong?"

"Really?" Dean said, then ran his hand over his mouth," Cas, I thought we were over this lying thing."

"What do you mean?" Cas asked, narrowing his eyes.

"Y/n's in the trunk isn't she?" Dean stated more than asked.

Cas didn't say anything, just stared at the ground at his shuffling feet. Dean cursed then muttered a," Yeah," under his breath as he nudged Cas aside to unlock the trunk. He pushed it up and you squinted up at him against the bright light. You held up your arm to block out the sun.

"Are we there yet?" you ask.

Dean glared at Cas irritably as he stood sheepishly away. Then Sam stepped around.

"What's going on...," he started, then saw you," Oh..."

You wave and smile like nothing's wrong," Hey. This trunk's really cozy back here. I was surprised-..."

"Alright, you're going back to Bobby's," Dean declared, then motioned for you to get out.

"No," you shake your head as you sit up," No, I'm not. I'm coming with you. You can't stop me. You said you wanted me to make my own choices. Well this is my choice! To go with you-..."

"And I'm telling you, no!" Dean snapped, jabbing a finger at you," This isn't about choice anymore, Y/n! This is about protecting you! Bobby's gonna skin us, then you!"

You squeeze your lips together and glance away quickly.

      "Uh-no... Bobby too?" Dean asked.

You shrug shyly. Dean groaned, rubbing his face with his hands while muttering incoherent words under his breath.

"Cas," Dean said, dropping his hands to his side," You're watching her. Every step of the way. Capisce?"

"Yeah, I capisce," Cas said softly, then took your hands and helped you out of the Impala, escorting you to the far more comfortable backseat.

"Well, that could've gone worse," Cas whispered as he sat down next to you.

"Tell me about it," you say," But I wasn't kidding. The trunk really is cozy. You should try it someday Cas."

"Oh I might," Cas murmured," Against my will if I go against Dean's again, I'm sure."

"Don't worry, I won't let him do that to you," you say.

"Please don't get hurt," Cas said," I don't need that on my conscience. Or Dean's extreme displeasure at me."

"I won't," you say," I'll be hyper vigilant. The best hunter in the world. I promise."
