You awoke to the sound of a buzzing alarm next to your head. You groggily slumped your arm over onto the buttons and fumbled for the stop button. It finally stopped and you wondered for a moment why it was set in the first place.
"Rise and shine, angel!" Lucifer called as he threw open your bedroom door," First day of school!"
"School?" you mumbled," What schoo-... oh right... school..."
"Come on, come on! Get up, get up, it's time to go to school," Lucifer cheered happily as he threw open the curtains and let light into the room.
"Alright, alright... I'm coming, I'm coming..." you muttered as you dragged yourself out of bed and onto your feet.
Lucifer watched you stumble to the doorway and out down the hall towards the kitchen. To your surprise, there were two equally tired looking angels sitting at the island with coffee mugs in their hands. You offered them a soft grunt as a greeting and they more or less copied it. Lucifer seemed to be the only one who wasn't 3/4 of the way into dreamland. In fact, he looked as though he woke up in a fairy tale.
"I've already packed you a lunch and have taken the opportunity to make sure your schoolbag is properly packed," he said in a hyper cheerful way.
"Thanks," you mumble as you rub your eyes, trying to gain some enthusiasm about the coming school day.
Lucifer sees how your lack of wakeness and calms his enthusiasm. He places a hand on your shoulder and gives you a gentle squeeze. You looked into his eyes and see something new in them.
"It's going to be a good day," Lucifer murmured.
You smile and reply," I know."
He smiles and steps away, going on with his routine as you make yourself a bowl of cereal. Now you think about that strange look in his eyes. You saw anxiety. You felt his wariness of you. He was just as unsure in how to connect with you as a father you were with him being a daughter. You hoped that this Angel school would give you some sort of connection to him.
One alternate universe away...
"SAM! BEHIND YOU!" Dean shouted as a vampire jumped from the abandoned mill's tin roof.
Sam whirled around and cleanly chopped off the fiend's head. It rolled to the side and over the cliff into a recently flooded, rushing creek. Dean and Sam were then both faced with equally strong vampire opponents. Both men struggled with them, trying to get the bloodsuckers far enough away from them in order to get a shot at their necks.
"Y/N! WE COULD USE A LITTLE HELP!" Dean shouted, then shoved the monster away. A sudden wash of sick realization that you were not there to help.
"YA-AAH, DAMN HUNTER!" the vamp screamed as he tried to charge again, but his headless body simply ran off the cliff and dropped into the churning water.
Dean stared down with a mix of emotions until he heard Sam struggling. He raced back to his brother and lobbed off his third vamp head of the night. After a quick once-over of the premises, Sam looked at his older brother.
"You called for her," he said.
"Yeah, old habits, I guess," Dean said, cleaning his machete blade off with a rag hanging from an old, rusty nail on the mill wall," And don't you dare start that puppy-dog, chick-flick crap on me, alright? I'm fine."
