When you became conscious of your surroundings again, Gabriel was bleeding. His hand was covered with blood. His face was filled with fear and confusion. You were shaking. You scrambled away from him. You looked at the clock. It was an hour later than what it had been the last time you'd checked. You tasted something wet and salty on your lips. You were afraid to check. Somehow you already knew what happened.
"Gabriel, I..." you couldn't find any words as Gabriel sat up, holding his hand against his left ear.
"Easy, Y/n, easy," he called softly," Just take it easy. I know you're back, so don't be afraid."
"What happened?" you asked.
"It... kinda got out of hand," Gabriel said while standing," Nothing to worry about."
You stepped forward, holding out your hand," Please, let me heal it..."
"No. No, it's okay," Gabriel said, holding up a hand to make you stop," I'm fine, Y/n."
It sounded like he was mad, but trying to hide it. You were now very scared. You were scared you had driven him away from you. Gabriel walked to the bathroom to try and fix the damage, leaving you in complete and utter terror of what happened. You tried with all your might to think back. To remember. But it was black. Nothing. It was like your brain just deleted it. You crawled into a corner and huddled your body as close as you could to it. Burying your face into your knees and crossing your feet, hugging your legs to your chest with your goosebump-ridden arms. Your life was now a nightmare. A horrible, terrible, no-escape nightmare.
Gabriel walked out of the bathroom, drying his hair with a towel, checking the bandage on his ear to make sure it was secure. He looked around the room, trying to find you. But when he didn't see you, he started to panic.
"Y/n? Y/n, where are you?" he called.
"Here," you spoke weakly, still in the corner, hidden by a chair you'd dragged into place in an attempt to trap yourself.
"Hey... hey, it's okay Y/n, I'm alright," Gabriel purred, crouching down behind the chair," Don't be scared..."
"Don't be scared?!" you cried," How can you tell me not to be afraid?!"
"Because we need to think about this rationally," Gabriel said coyly," Do I need to talk you down like a panicked animal?"
You pouted. You hated it when your own words came back to bite you. Then again, you were the first one to bite literally...
"It's okay...," Gabriel sighed, turning the chair so that he could sit on it while facing you,"... I mean, with the full moon and everything I should've known something like that would happen."
"Full moon?" you asked, then glanced at the closed drapes.
"Yeah, full moon," Gabriel said," It seems you are indeed part werewolf."
"Lucky me..." you muttered," What happened?"
"You chewed my ear, but it's fine," Gabriel said with a shrug," No harm-... well nothing that won't heal eventually."
"I'm so, so, so sorry Gabe... I-..." you apologized profusely, but you're cut off by Gabriel again.
"Stop it," Gabriel said," You're still growing into your powers, Y/n. You can't blame yourself for things you don't understand. Yet."
You sighed and pulled your shoulders in," I just don't want you to be scared of me..."
"I'm not scared of you," Gabriel said," You just startled me. That's all."
"How do I control it? I don't even remember doing it," you said frantically," I completely blacked out. I don't remember anything...!"
"We'll figure it out," Gabriel said," For now, we sleep. Okay?"
You didn't say anything. You were too busy trying to see beyond the black curtain that seemed to drape across all the moments you used your powers. It was aggravating. To know you did something but not being able to see it, or at the very least remember it, was very irritating. You couldn't see why you used your powers. Or what triggered them. It was just gone. Hidden.
Gabriel scooped you up. He pushed the chair away with his foot as he cleared a path back to the bed. Tenderly, he laid you under the covers, tucking you in securely, then laid down behind you on top of the blankets. You realized that he was keeping you captured, and protecting himself, while still staying near you. You felt his smooth, nimble fingers playing through your h/c locks in a relaxing, soothing way. You could feel the vibrations of his voice as he hummed some soft tune under his warm, steady breath.
"Go to sleep, Y/n," he whispered," Just go to sleep. Everything will be alright in the morning."
"It will?" you asked, feeling like a stupid child asking for reassurance.
"I promise," the archangel said softly," I promise, it will be."
