"How much longer?" you ask.
"Two hours..." Dean grumbled," And if you start whining, I will turn this car around so fast..."
"I was just asking," you say, pulling your knees up to your chin.
Castiel put his arm around you, letting you lean against his trench coat and rest your head on his shoulder. You didn't understand why. He said you were beautiful, but did he mean that in a platonic, as-friends way or a deeper, please-like-me-too-in-the-same-way kind. You didn't really mind either way, because he was a nice person. A good angel. A wonderful pillow. Sure, he wasn't all up to date on all the boys' comedic references, but it was cute seeing his confusion as he puzzled over it. His tilted head and narrowed eyes, with his lips slightly parted.
"So what are we doing anyways?" you ask," I mean, are we meeting up with someone? Or... getting hunters together? Or-..."
"Or heading into a trap," a very thick-accented voice butted in from beside you.
You look beside you and see a black-suited, red-eyed, crossroads demon sitting next to you. He was staring at the boys, who whipped their heads around to look at him.
"Hello boys," he greeted them.
Dean slammed on the brakes and pulled over. Once the Impala halted, he whirled around and jabbed a finger at the demon.
"Don't you EVER! Do that AGAIN, Crowley!" Dean yelled.
"Good to see you too, Squirrel," Crowley said, unfazed by Dean's anger, then addressed Sam," You too, Moose."
You clutched to Castiel's trench coat, with Cas pulling you onto his lap to keep you as far away from Crowley as possible. He held one arm across your torso to protect your body, and one hand covering your head to protect it. The air now had traces of sulfur in it, and it made you cough. Cas let you bury your face against is neck. You could feel his chest rising and falling faster as he tried to catch his frightened breath.
"Castiel, good to see you," Crowley said with slight disapproval, then with much curiosity asked," And who's the little lady?"
You glare at him through Cas's fingers. Cas tightened his hold on you.
"Leave her alone!" Cas ordered.
Crowley raised his hands," Just trying to be friendly."
"Uh, and why is that?" Dean asked aggressively.
"Like I said," Crowley said," If you're heading to my base of operations, then you're walking into a trap."
"Trap?" Sam asked," What trap?"
"It seems my demons are a bit... over excited," Crowley said," Something about a new master, a new king, a new era in Hell. They revolted against me in a pathetic coup, but managed to expel me from my throne."
"When did this happen?" Sam asked.
"About a week ago," Crowley said," I've been trying to gain some allies in the last few days, but alas... there are none to be found. Except for you three- four, beg my pardon."
"We are not your allies," Cas growled.
"Oh but you and I want similar things," Crowley said," I know your pals on the clouds are butting their halos together about some new entity. The same entity my demons overthrew me for as my replacement. And... I have insider information about Hell."
You lean up just a little bit and say," What insider information?"
"Glad you asked, Tweety Bird," Crowley said, ignoring your disgusted expression at the nickname," I know who's in charge right now."
"Which is...?!" Dean irritably and erratically tried to draw out the information.
"Asmodeus, a Prince of Hell," Crowley said," Southern, likes white suits and bees, and oh yeah... bringing an end to life as you humans know it."
"Well, I understand the bee part perfectly," Cas said under his breath.
"I remember that version of you, and I can't say I'm any more fond of it now, than I was then," Crowley muttered.
"Alright, break it up you two," Dean snapped," Cas, stay on task. Crowley, tell us more about Asmodeus."
"As I was saying," Crowley said, casting a glare at Cas," Asmodeus is very popular with the demons. He was Lucifer's weakest creation, but learned more tricks than you can shake a stick at. He also has a thing for archangel grace of all things..."
"Archangel grace?" Cas asked, then demanded," What do you mean? Archangel grace?"
"I mean, if you're looking for your Trickster brother Gabriel, then look no further than in Hell..." Crowley growled,"... where Asmodeus is draining him of his archangel grace in order to summon the creature they believe to be their savior."
You and Cas were both shocked. You looked between the boys and saw similar expressions, but with more determination than shock.
"How do we get him out?" Sam asked.
"Out? From Hell?" Crowley asked," You must be out of your minds. Are you perhaps a few marbles short?"
"Gabriel is the reason we were coming to you," Cas said lowly," We won't leave him to Asmodeus. We will rescue him and destroy anyone who stands in our way."
"Castiel... grew a backbone, I see," Crowley stated mockingly," I guess that means you Winchesters agree with the Giraffe."
"Yeah, we do," Dean said," Not just because of Cas, but because Gabriel is a friend of ours too and this is our kind of case."
"I'd say you're all mad, but I know that you are proud of that fact," Crowley said, rolling his eyes.
"You better believe it," Dean said as he put the Impala in drive," So are you with us, or not, Crowley?"
"I can't talk you out of it, and if I say no I'll never hear the end of it," Crowley said, then sighed," Yes. I'm with you."
Cas muttered," Great."
"Cas, you're sitting between Sulfur Breath and Y/n," Dean said," And if I hear anything out of the ordinary back there, Crowley, you're the first one I'm going to blame."
"Understood," Crowley said, then scooted over as far as he could from you and Cas.
Cas moved over and sat you down where he'd been sitting earlier. That way he separated you and (heh-heh)... Sulfur Breath. Which you didn't mind at all. The small amounts of sulfur was making it hard to breathe, until you finally gave up and opened the window. You stuck your head out and kept it out. Ignoring the protests from Crowley with zeal.
