You came to slowly. Your body didn't ache as bad as before. Your breathing was still shallow-ish, but it wasn't as hard to get oxygen in. Your hands weren't shaking. You didn't feel as sweaty as before. The room was darker. It was growing dark outside. You opened your eyes and saw Sam sitting in your chair, reading a dusty, musty old book. You rolled over onto your side, resting your head on your elbow. Sam stood up and crouched next to you.
"Hey, Y/n," Sam whispered happily, tilting his head to be at the same angle as you," How do you feel?"
"Better," you say groggily," Where is everyone?"
"Downstairs," Sam said.
"What are they doing?" you ask.
"Talking," Sam said," Drinking probably."
"About me?" you ask.
Sam nodded, his smile fading just a bit," They're all worried about you."
You took a shaky breath and nodded," Yeah, me too."
"Hey," Sam said, then laid down on the wooden floorboards, holding his head up with his hand," We'll figure this out. Alright?"
"Sure," you say, then whisper," I saw her... my mom. I saw her die. Because of me."
"I know how that feels," Sam said," My mom was killed by a demon, because she walked into my nursery at the wrong time."
"Yellow-eyes? I mean... Azazel?" you ask.
"Yeah," Sam said.
"I... saw him..." you say," He fed me demon blood."
Sam's eyes darkened. It made you feel like a freak. You turned your face just slightly to hide yourself in your pillow. Sam raked his fingers through your hair.
"I guess we're both freaks," he said sadly with a chuckle.
"Am I cursed?" you ask," Am I really part demon?"
Sam shook his head," The blood is probably long gone from your system," but his words didn't seem to ring true.
"Cas said you were addicted to demon blood at one point," you say," Will that happen to me?"
"Well don't go drinking some dirty demon's blood and it won't," Sam said," And don't trust anybody named Ruby, or Meg, or any demon who says it's a magic cure."
"Promise," you say, then closed your eyes.
"What else did you see?" Sam asked.
With your eyes still closed, you say," I was bit by a werewolf before that. It killed my first adoptive parents. Ripped their hearts out."
Sam made a thoughtful sound, then asked," How many adoptive parents did you have?"
"Three, then Bobby," you say, then opened your eyes," My first ones were named Rob and Lucy."
"Any last names?" he asked.
"Uh...." you thought hard, remembered glancing at a wall decoration that said," Newman."
Sam sat up and grabbed a piece of stationary and a pen. He scribbled the name down.
"Did you happen to see your mom's name?" Sam asked.
"No," you say.
"What about the hospital? Did you get the hospital's name?" Sam asked.
You thought back and saw the hospital's name on one of the nurse's badges," St. Marks General Hospital, Washington."
"A date or time?" Sam asked.
You remembered seeing a calendar," June 11th, 18 years ago."
"18 years ago?" Sam asked," How old are you?"
"I... uh... Bobby assumed I was somewhere around 20," you say," I don't think I ever told him my birthday. I don't think I even know what my birthday is.."
Sam ran his hand over his mouth," Then there may be a reason the angels felt a surge in the last month. It fits the timetable."
"But there's something I don't understand," you say," My father... the one killed by a Chupacabra? I went into his office right before he died, and he wasn't there."
Sam nodded," Yeah, we did some digging and his eyes were burned out."
"Like an angel?" you say," Why would an angel kill him?"
"We're still working on that," Sam said," But... I guess I can tell you. You kind of already know this, but... you're a Nephilim."
"Nephilim?" you ask.
"Half angel, half human," Sam explained and you replied with a 'oh, yeah'," That's why your mother died when you were born."
"My father... was an angel?" you ask.
"Yeah."
"Which one?"
"I think Cas and Hannah are looking into that."
"This is too much," you moan," Why can't I go back to being a really bad hunter who gets stabbed by vampires?"
"That's not how this life works," Sam said forcing a nervous smile," You become a hunter, you open a can of worms no one knew existed. You and I have the demon blood in common at least."
"Yeah... yeah! You survived," you say," So I can too!"
