*Emily's POV*

We were just getting started on our barbecue for the second night at the lake house. Yesterday had been fairly uneventful apart from that revelation from Spencer. I didn't know what to say, I didn't how to help. I knew I was gay, it was denial that stopped me from admitting it more than confusion. But Spencer... she seemed genuinely lost. I mean Han and I had spoken about it in the A days when they were constantly team Sparia-ing up but both had boyfriends and neither ever seemed to show interest in someone of the same sex. I can't imagine how Spencer must feel.

But I also have my own love life drama to deal with at the minute. I look out over the lake as I start up the BBQ. Fucking hell. How did I end up here, Dad?

"Penny for your thoughts?" Noel nudges me as he brings me the burgers

"Just thinking about how every time we come here there seems to be some kind of drama" I sigh

Noel nods slightly "Last time we here came you and Alison got into a pretty big fight. What's the drama now?"

"Now nothing" I lie

"Em... I know Ali quite well and over the years, even though you've changed, I've managed to read you a little too. That car ride was tense and weird as fuck. What happened? I thought things were going back to normal since you moved back and decided to start afresh for the millionth time" he chuckles as I lightly punch his shoulder at that final remark

"It was, it is!" I huff

"Then what's up? Come on, Em." he insists

"Fine" I grab the burgers and annoyingly toss them on the grill before I say anything "We kissed"

"WHAT?"

"Not so loud!" I look at him wide-eyed

"Sorry.... what? like when? where? how? why"

"Last Friday in my new flat over the brew, she was helping me move the last of my boxes in and we watched a film and then I jokingly teased her and she snapped I guess" I try to say as nonchalantly as possible

"Wow..." Noel passes a hand through his hair

"Yeah... Thing is she ran out when it happened. Like she just freaked, I gave her space. I didn't call or text. I'm not sure if she's trying to figure stuff out or if she's scared or if she regrets it."

"She probably just got a little freaked. It's been years Emily since you've shown any interest in her of any kind. I'm sure she just wanted to think about it longer."

"The kiss though... It felt so real, so pure. It felt like she telling me her heart's decision all in that one kiss. I felt 17 again when we first started dating. It was the same kind of kiss that let me knew she loved me. I just don't want to push her you know but I also can't stop thinking about her and much I just wish we were back together already. I know she wants me. I know she knows I'm the right person for her. I just don't know what's taking her so long to admit it." I furrowed my brows slightly, confused still as to the situation. A silence fell between the two of us and I could feel Noel hesitating to say whatever he was going to say next

"Can't say I'm surprised to be honest actually" I turn to him inquisitively "Look, when you cheated on her, I was so mad at you and I hated you for hurting her like that. But I wanted to forgive you and I wanted her to find it in her heart to forgive you too, Emily. No one has ever made Ali feel so happy and confident and comfortable at the same time. Sure she loved Elliot, she was in love with him too." I grimace at those words "But, it had nothing to do with what she felt for you. The way she spoke of you when you were dating, it was like her whole world was the happiest place on earth, like she could do anything, be anyone. With him, it was always felt like she was content, happy, but content only. Everyone knew you would come back fighting for her, so did she, I reckon. Shame it took you so long though, and that you had to have the worst possible timing for it" I chuckled "Look Em, I'm only going to say it once. But if you and Ali are going to start up again, you better be sure this time... There aren't anymore chances after this. You fuck up and there is no way you will ever be able to win her back again. Don't fuck up"
