Hindi na ako nagulat nang makita kung sino sa harapan ko. Takot, iyon yung nararamdaman ko.

"Alexandria! I saw you earlier and I thought for a second that it might be someone who just looks like you. Nakita kitang pumunta dito kaya sumunod ako dahil sigurado akong hindi nga ako nagkakamali sa nakikita." Lumapit siya lalo sa akin at naglahad ng braso na parang yayakap ito.

Hindi ako magkapagsalita. Magmumukha lang akong tanga kapag sinabi ko na hindi ako ang tinutukoy niya. He knows me, my name, my looks, my voice. But he doesn't know well about my personality. He's Adrian and he courted me wayback in highschool. Hindi nag work kasi hindi ko gusto at hindi ako nagiisip tungkol sa mga ganong bagay dahil bata pa.

Nahihiya niyang binaba ang kamay dahil hindi ko iyon pinansin. Nakatayo lang ako sa harapan niya nagiisip kung ano ang sasabihin.

"The last time I saw you was when you arrived at Bacolod after your graduated Architecture in Spain. Do you remember? It's been years already and I really miss you Alex." Prangka ang mga salita nito na halatang hindi nahihiya sa akin.

He's always like that. Straightforward and competitive. He's Chinese and a business tycoon from Bacolod. Our family is close in terms of business and because of coming from the family of Chinese. Una ko siyang nakita noong nagpapatakbo si papa bilang Congressman. I was just 13 that time. Simula noon naging magkaibigan kami ngunit dumistansya ako ng bigla itong manligaw. He's a great friend tho.

"Adrian, don't tell my father that you saw me." Hindi na ako napaligoy-ligoy pa.

"Tito Benidict don't know about this?"

Judging his question, he doesn't know about anything.

"He knows. Huwag mo na lamang banggitin na nagkita tayo dito."

"Why?"

Hindi ako sumagot. Iniiwasan ko ang ganong bagay. But Adrian will always be Adrian. He's curious with a lot of things. I bet he would do his research about me. Ayon ang ikinatatakot ko dahil magugulo ang simpleng buhay ko dito.

"I really miss you Alex. I wish I could spend time with you but we will head home after the dinner."

"How's Dad?" I'm eager to know.

"He's fine. Your family is doing well. You don't communicate with them?"

Umiling ako, "Kamusta si Andrea?"

"You know what, your sister has drinking habits. I always saw her at this particular lounge with her friends and your two other cousin."

It's great. I always pray that Andrea will stay happy. Sa aming magkakapatid ay siya iyong mas jolly.

"I heard that Anthony will be handling your Grandfather's hacienda. Do you know about that?"

Tumango ako. Of course. Ganon ang plano sa simula pa lamang. He's the first grandchild and the fact that he is a boy he really deserves the hacienda. Siya lang ang may kaya sa amin na mamuno doon.  Kuya loves agriculture. He will manage the land very well.

"To be honest I did searched about you. I have leads that you're in Mindanao with your Uncle but it turns out you're not there. I also think you flew back to Spain since you're an Architect now. Hindi ko lang inaasahan na nandito ka lang pala."

Kumunot ang noo. Ano ang ipinahihiwatig niya? Lang? Minamaliit ba niya ang lugar na ito?

"What do you mean?" May halong galit ang tanong ko. I prefer living in this island rather than the toxic life in the city. Toxic na nga ang mga tao pati ba naman sa polusyon.
