Chapter 21: Trinkets

Y/n POV

Mr. TOP pushed open the doors with all of his might. A loud creaking noise sounded as the door opened. I held my breath as we all observed the castle and entered.

"It's surprisingly clean," Nayeon murmured.

"Yeah. It's weird considering no one has been in here for a while," I agreed.

"So where do you suppose the artifact is?" Jihyo asked Mr. TOP.

He shrugged, "I don't know."

"So we're basically going in blind?" Tzuyu cocked her eyebrow at him.

He nodded his head, "Pretty much."

"Maybe it's down in the basement or attic," I suggested.

"Okay, we should all split up to cover more ground," Mr. TOP clasped his hands together.

"Sure. Let's all split up and meet our dooms," Tzuyu scoffed.

"There will be three groups," Mr. TOP ignored Tzuyu's comment, "One group will only have three people while the other two will have four. Group up!"

I joined Dahyun, Tzuyu, and Chaeyoung's group. I looked at the other groups.

One consisted of Mr. TOP, Nayeon, and Jeongyeon.

The third group was made up of Momo, Sana, Jihyo, and Mina.

"Hey we all arranged ourselves according to our age," I pointed out.

"It's confirmed. Unnies, you're old!" Tzuyu laughed at Mr. TOP's group.

All of us laughed except for Nayeon and Jeongyeon who glared at us. "I bet we can find the artifact faster than you people," Nayeon stated.

"No way. You're too slow. We can find it faster!" Chaeyoung announced.

"Nah. Our group will find it first," Sana interrupted.

"Why don't we make this interesting," Mr. TOP stated, "Whoever finds the artifact first will be treated to lunch by everyone who loses but it you find trouble you need to let everyone else know."

Everyone agreed.

"Okay. Ready, set..." Mr. TOP glanced around at us, "...Go!"

Tzuyu led our group down to the basement, "There are always important things in the basement in shows. Maybe it's down here."

We opened the basement door and noticed it was completely pitch dark, a few steps were noticeable, the darkness covered most of them though. Dahyun blinked twice, "Maybe we should look somewhere else."

"Come on Unnies. We got this," Tzuyu smiled before walking down the steps.

After the first few steps, Tzuyu completely disappeared from our view. I didn't want her to be alone so quickly followed. I looked back to make sure Dahyun and Chaeyoung were also coming.

They were but Dahyun was incredibly hesitant so Chaeyoung took it upon herself to link arms with her. I smiled as I saw her do that. I turned around and went down the steps being cautious about where I put my feet.

"Tzuyu, where are you?" I whispered as I got to the last step.

Dahyun and Chaeyoung were right behind me. "Maybe we took so long so she just went ahead?" Chaeyoung theorized.

Dahyun frowned, "Tzuyu would wait for us."

"Guys!" A voice whisper-yelled.

Dahyun and I jumped as we all turned to see Tzuyu smirking at us.
