The next morning, Stiles picked Lydia up for school. She climbed into his jeep, quickly switching the radio station he had been playing. He rolled his eyes at her, knowing better than to argue with Lydia Martin. As Stiles started driving, Lydia sprayed him with her perfume. He coughed and glared at her.
"What was that for?"
"We're friends with werewolves. It'll be better if you smell like me." She had clearly thought it out more than he had.
"And you don't think that's a little much?" He looked at her out of the corner of his eye, slightly unimpressed by the perfume he could taste on his lips.
"You're lucky I didn't bring Prada." She retorted, knowing Stiles wouldn't have been a fan.
"There's been enough dogs in my jeep." He teased, Lydia's laugh echoing around the jeep. She shook her head wondering what their werewolf friends would say about his joke. She smiled to herself as Stiles turned another corner.
"Allison wants a double date this weekend," Lydia announced. "What day are you free?"
"Derek and I don't have plans until Tuesday." Stiles shrugged his schedule pretty much free. "Isaac wanted to have a pack night though."
"So date Friday, pack night Saturday?" Lydia planned in her head. Stiles nodded.
"Sounds good. I can text Derek and see if it'd be okay." Stiles offered but Lydia shook her head.
"Scott's going to ask him," Lydia informed him. "Plus everyone thinks Derek hates you, it wouldn't make sense for you to ask." Stiles pulled up to the school and they got ready to put on a show. They walked over to the table and sat down, the same as the morning before. Isaac groaned as he was once again surrounded by couples. He went from being the third wheel to being the fifth wheel.
"I talked to Derek and he agreed to let the pack stay over this weekend. Does Saturday work for everyone?" Scott looked around and waited for answers. Allison quickly voiced her availability, having already argued with her dad about it. Stiles and Lydia made eye contact before nodding. Isaac agreed, offering to tell the others.
"Oo, Lyds, I can't drive you tomorrow. We have practice before school." Stiles remembered. Lydia nodded before turning to Allison.
"Scott has practice too, do you want a ride?" Allison nodded, a thank you slipping from her lips. It had been a while since the pair had hung out alone and even if it was just a drive to school, Lydia was excited to spend time with her best friend. Allison, on the other hand, saw it as the perfect opportunity to grill Lydia about her new relationship. Lydia could almost hear the other girl's thoughts. "Are you free after school?" Stiles turned to her, not knowing why she wanted to make plans.
"Yeah," Stiles gave her a weird look, wondering why she was asking him out in front of their friends especially because they already had "plans" for the evening.
"Wanna come over? We can watch a movie before our date tonight." She gave him a look that told him to agree and he shrugged.
"Sure, sounds good."
The day had gone smoothly and Stiles waited for Lydia at the end of the day. She threw her bag in the back seat as she got in the front.
"So I'm going to your house today?" He asked, just to be sure.
"We need to figure out all the details of our relationship before Allison interrogates me tomorrow." She explained. Stiles nodded in understanding. When he had dated Malia, Allison and Lydia had locked him in a room for hours until they were satisfied with the information.
"What do you need to know?" Lydia made a list in her head of all the things Allison would ask her.
"So how did I ask you out?" She started at the most logical place. He glanced at her, waiting for her to answer her own question.
"You pulled me aside and asked me?" Stiles offered with a shrug.
"I need a reason why too. Why now? Why you?" Lydia thought out loud.
"Well, obviously my undeniable charm and dashing good looks." Lydia nearly choked as she burst out laughing. Stiles frowned and looked at her as she tried to catch her breath.
"That was good, tell another one." She teased earning an eye roll as Stiles pulled into the driveway.
They paused their conversation until they got to Lydia's room. She announced to her mom that Stiles was there, getting back a "What the hell is a Stiles?" that made them both laugh.
"So, Lydia Martin, why did you fall for me?"
"I don't know." She sighed. "Why does Derek like you?"
"Y'know, I'm going to try not to be offended by that." Stiles pouted as Lydia rolled her eyes.
"Did you really think I was going to confess my undying love for you?" She raised an eyebrow at him as his cheeks tinted pink. "Give me your phone."
"What? No." Stiles pulled it out of her reach.
"I'm going to call Derek." She stated, stretching to try and grab it.
"No, you're not. No one's going to believe that you like me for whatever reasons Derek does." Stiles pointed out. Lydia groaned as she flopped back onto her bed. "We've been friends for years, there has to be something you like about me."
"I like that you're always there for me. And you make me a better version of myself." She attempted and she rolled her eyes as Stiles grinned.
"When did you start looking at me differently?"
"When I kissed you?" She suggested. Stiles thought to the moment when Lydia had kissed him. She had helped him through a panic attack. At the time, the act only solidified their friendship but now it gave them a reason to be together.
"I'm that good," Stiles smirked. Lydia groaned, lightly shoving him. "Our date Friday, where did I take you?"
"You picked me up in your jeep and...took me to a picnic in the forest?" She smiled at her choice and Stiles nodded in agreement.
"You like picnics?" Stiles always imagined Lydia was the type for fancy restaurants.
"They've grown on me." She bit her lip with a small smile. There weren't many places to go when trying to hide a relationship so Jordan had taken her to the woods a few times. It was a nice change from the usual time spent in his apartment.
"Did we kiss?" It was interesting. Growing up, Stiles had planned his perfect date with Lydia. Now they were doing it together. After they ironed out a few more details, Lydia needed to get ready for her date. She disappeared into her closet and came back with two dresses. She held them up, alternating them in front of her body.
"Which one?" Stiles pointed to the one on the left which Lydia immediately returned to her closet. She slipped on the other dress as Stiles averted his eyes. "Is my hair done in the back?" He looked back up at her as she turned around. A few of the curls were squished so Lydia handed him her curling iron. She showed him what to do. "Be careful."
He wrapped a strand of hair around the wand before releasing it. The curl bounced, falling into place with the rest. Lydia touched up her makeup as Stiles finished her hair.
Lydia's phone went off telling her that he was ready for her whenever.
"Okay time to go." She started shoving him out.
"Uh Lyds, we have a date tonight. I can't leave before you." He reminded her and she cursed under her breath.
"Fine, you can drop me off." She sighed. She hadn't planned on telling Stiles who her boyfriend was just yet but she didn't have much of a choice. "But you can't freak out."
