Allison had the list by Friday and brought it to Derek immediately. She drove over before class and handed it to him, trying to prove he could trust her. Derek invited her in and offered her coffee, much to her surprise. She accepted, figuring it would be better than refusing, even if she was a little late.
"I looked at the list and everyone is on it except me and Stiles." Allison noticed a slight sigh of relief from Derek but decided not to question it.
"What are the numbers?" Next to each person was a number ranging from 1 to 250.
"I think it's how much each person is worth. So 250 means $250 000 while the smaller numbers like 1 or 20 are millions." Derek scanned the list, there were three sets of names. Each list was filled with names of supernatural creatures in Beacon Hills. The first list had all of the Walcotts on it. Whoever had killed them had made a million dollars off of their death. Derek looked for the names of his pack members. The werewolves in his pack were all worth 3 except for Scott who was worth 20. Everyone else in his pack was in the millions as well.
"We need to figure out who this list was sent to." Derek sighed running a hand through his hair.
"We also need to warn as many of these people as possible. They should be able to protect themselves." Allison was different from other hunters and Derek admired that about her. While others hunted to kill, she did it to protect.
"Can you tell everyone to get here after school?" Derek asked, trusting Allison to spread the word so he wouldn't have to. She nodded and got ready to leave.
"Thanks for the coffee." Derek had been learning to trust Allison for Stiles's sake and for the rest of the pack. He had a history with the Argents but he was learning that Allison was nothing like Kate. He knew that when Scott took over as alpha, she would be the right person to be at his side.
Allison got to school a few minutes late and snuck into her first class. At lunch, she told everyone to meet at the loft after school. When Stiles asked why she told him to wait but he had already put the pieces together in his head. Allison had found the list. He ran out of school to his jeep and drove to Derek's. He went inside and startling Derek who was sitting on the couch, without a shirt on. Stiles didn't even notice as he searched for the list.
"It's on the counter," Derek called out to him. Stiles grabbed it and looked at the first page. His eyes widened as he read over the three names that stuck out. Scott, Lydia and Derek were all there. His boyfriend, his best friend and fake girlfriend. Below that, Kira and Erica were also typed out. Derek sensed his discomfort and joined him as he turned to the next page. As Stiles read through all the names, he searched for clues to get his mind off of the fact that he was normal.
"Derek..." Stiles wasn't sure if Derek had noticed that someone was missing off the list. "Peter's not on here." Derek looked at the list, realizing Stiles was right. "But someone else is," Stiles muttered under his breath. The last name on the list shocked him completely. He had to call Lydia.
Derek tried to convince Stiles to go back to school but he refused, insisting this was more important than any History homework. Derek thought that at least this meant they would have some time alone together. That was interrupted when Lydia knocked on the door. Derek groaned as Stiles let her in.
"Shouldn't you be in school?" Lydia scoffed at Derek's assumption.
"I can afford to miss one class," Lydia assured him. She was far enough ahead in all of her classes that she could miss an entire month without fear of falling behind. "Why am I here?" She asked Stiles.
"Lydia you need to see this list." Stiles dragged her over to where he had spread out the three pages. She glanced at it, her eyes resting on her name.
"It's a deadpool." She stated, brushing her fingers over where her name was written. "The pack is coming over after school, why did I need to see this?" She was scanning the list when she stopped. "Malia Hale?" Derek looked up at the sound of his family name.
"What?" Stiles joined in on the confusion, wondering how he had not seen it sooner.
"Malia is on here as a Hale?" Lydia had helped Peter learn of his daughter's existence but few people actually knew. By Derek's confusion, she could tell he was not one of them.
"I have to talk to Peter," Derek grumbled leaving the room as he dialled his number.
"Lydia that's not what I wanted to show you." Stiles pulled the third page and handed it to Lydia, pointing to the last name on the list. "Did you know?" He asked her. By the blank look in her eye, he assumed she didn't. At the bottom of the list on the third page, Jordan Parrish was written clear as day.
"We can't show this to the pack. Malia doesn't know the truth about her father. If she finds out like this, she might lash out and we can't risk it with people after us. Plus, I need to talk to Jordan." Stiles knew he shouldn't use his relationship with Derek to get what he wanted and he wasn't even sure if it would work but he had to try.
"Even if we convince Derek, how can we make sure Allison doesn't tell anyone?" Stiles pointed out and Lydia bit her lip. She couldn't tell Allison about Parrish.
"You talk to Derek, leave Allison to me." Lydia sent Stiles after Derek who had just finished a useless phone call with his uncle.
"Der?" Stiles mumbled softly to the tense alpha werewolf. Derek softened as he turned around to face him. Stiles shut the door behind him and walked closer to where Derek was. "Is everything okay?"
"Malia is my cousin. Peter's daughter." Derek ran a hand through his hair, looking at Stiles skeptically as he tried to act surprised. "You knew?"
"Lydia may have told me. But Malia doesn't know. We need to talk to her about it before she finds out from the list. Plus I think the list might just add panic to the pack."
"You think we should keep it from them?"
"Just for now." Stiles reasoned with him.
"They need to know what's going on so they can protect themselves," Derek argued.
"But we still don't even know what's going on. We don't know who we're up against. Why worry them over nothing?" Stiles needed a reason to postpone the meeting without telling Derek about Lydia and Parrish.
"What's going on, Stiles?"
"I can't tell you but I need you to trust me. Please." Derek was torn. He wanted to believe Stiles knew what he was doing but he couldn't risk the safety of the pack. Stiles did the first thing he could think of to make his argument more persuasive. He pressed his lips to Derek's catching his boyfriend off guard. Stiles deepened the kiss until Derek was lost in him.
"Okay." Derek sighed. "I trust you. We will talk to Malia tonight and we'll tell the rest of the pack tomorrow." Stiles let out a sigh of relief.
"I'll call off the pack meeting. I'm going to take Lydia home and then I'll meet you back here okay?" Stiles kissed his cheek before running out of the room. Stiles was out the door before Derek realized that Lydia had driven herself. He wanted to know what they were hiding, a part of him jealous of the pair's secrets, but he decided not to go after them.
He just hoped he wouldn't regret it.
