He was known to be the right hand man of the duchess, some refer to him as her personal bodyguard. But what was certain is that Jack was Elsa's escort whenever Elsa was out of the castle. He never left her side, he was with her all the time.
"Back from a trip with the Duchess aye?" Jack's neighbor, Mr. Bennet, greeted him as he went down his horse. Jack simply smiled as his reply, slightly bowing as a habit of his.
"Your new job must be tough." Mr. Bennet commented. "Always being on guard and all."
Mr. Bennet was one of the people that helped Jack from before, back when his job was to deliver produce to the castle. It was him who offered the job to Jack. Even though Jack doesn't technically work for him anymore as his delivery boy, Jack still insists on helping out once in a while.
Jack lightly laughed. "Uh, it's not as hard. Elsa has other guards than myself. Ones that are tougher. I'm just there to keep her company." He replied.
Mr. Bennet smiled. "Nice to know that even after taking over she still keeps her contact with you." Jack smiled as well, nodding his head. Being the neighbor to the Overlands Mr. Bennet was well aware of the fact that Elsa used to temporarily reside there. It made him feel proud that his village was one of the few reasons the current duchess was as inspired.
Surely, the Overlands left a great impression on Elsa which is why Jack still had contact to her. That was what he thought. Unknown to him was the other things Elsa and Jack had to go through, the ones that really kept them together.
Just when Mr. Bennet was about to attempt a short conversation, he heard his Wife calling for him. "Well, it was nice chatting with you. I best be going. Good day Jack." Mr. Bennet said waving his hand before heading to his house.
"You too Mr. Bennet." Jack said, escorting his horse to the nearby tree where it always stayed.

"Follow your heart." It read. It was a little hand carved charm that was a gift from Emilia. With the charm was a drawing of the Overlands with Elsa made by Emma.
Elsa smiled as she caressed the charm. "I think I finally get what you mean." She said before setting it down.
She then reached for her pen and started writing on her journal. It was a journal solely for whenever she spent the time outside the castle. She often looked back at it whenever she needed to remember a key point from one of her visits or maybe just for her to remember the fun she had back then.
All those memories made her smile. It made her keep going through. It made her feel like she was following her heart.
And in every entry, his name was there. He was never not written in a paragraph. He was always mentioned, even if what was written was just "he", Elsa knew who it was.
"It wouldn't be the same without you." Elsa muttered to herself as she wrote out his name for the first paragraph, laughing at the realization.
It was a fairly short entry, not much happened after all. They spent almost the whole day doing the laundry, nevertheless it was a fun day for Elsa.
After setting her pen down Elsa did a little stretch and headed to her bed.
Her thoughts then started filling her head.
It was a usual thing. It kept her up at most nights. Normally she would try to shake it off and just drift to sleep. But she decided to just dwell on those thoughts for a little while.
It seemed off though. Her small fantasy of running away from responsibility, it didn't feel right. Back then she would imagine it and think "why didn't I do this?", but now, she doesn't get those thoughts.
