Charlotte POV
"Charlotte, come on! We need to get to the airport!" my roommate, and best friend, shouted to me from the front door.
"Coming Ash!" I took one last glance around my room, and at my checklist, just to make sure I hadn't forgotten anything. Once I made sure I had all of my essentials, I made my way downstairs.
"Finally!" Ashley huffed, closing and locking the door behind me. We piled all of our luggage into the car, and then we were on our way. The airport was about an hour drive, and my jitters finally started to kick in. Ashley could tell from the driver's seat, so she turned to me.
"Are you excited?" she asked, already knowing the answer.
"Of course I am! We're going to Las Vegas!"
The drive flew by, and once we had pulled into our parking spot at the airport, two other girls squealed and sprinted to our car. I was almost tackled to the ground from both of them hugging me at the same time.
These two crazies were my other best friends, Sarah and Jenny.
"Come on, let's go! Our flight leaves in two hours!"
We all headed towards the entrance, and once we had our luggage checked, went through security, and got to our gate it was already time to board the plane. Ashley and I sat together on one side of the aisle, while Sarah and Jenny sat on the other.
As the plane started to take off, I began getting anxious about the trip. Ashley and I had been friends since we were seven, and we had that kind of "Maid Of Honor at each other's weddings" type friendship, so she clearly noted my anxiety.
Turning to me, she said, "Charlotte, calm down. This is going to be the greatest trip of your life!" She was right, and I knew that, I was just always the kind of person to worry about all of the things that could go wrong. I looked at her with pleading eyes.
"Just please make sure nothing bad happens while we're there, okay?"
She nodded her head in response, "Char, you know I've always got you. We'll be fine."
With that, I leaned back in my seat, preparing myself for one of the most exciting weekends of my life.
Once we landed, we grabbed our luggage and met our shuttle to take us to our hotel.
"Wow." Jenny stated, saying what we all were thinking. Our plane landed at around 9pm, and the nightlife in Vegas was just getting started. We were all looking out the windows of the shuttle, taking in all of the bright lights of the hotels and casinos.
The shuttle stopped outside of the Park MGM, and once I got out of the car, my nerves instantly went away. I was ready to party! The four of us hauled our luggage into the hotel and went towards the check-in desk. I sat in the waiting area while the other girls went to check in.
Looking around, I couldn't believe the amount of people! Seeing as it was August, I figured there would be fewer people, due to summer coming to an end, but that was definitely not the case. Come to think of it, I doubt there is ever a time where there aren't many people in Vegas.
I snapped back to reality when I saw a group of around six guys walking through the lobby to the check-in. From a distance, they all looked to be around my age, and might I say, very attractive. Before I could get a good look at them, the girls were dragging me to the elevator.
Sarah pressed the button to go to the fourth floor, and we walked to room 812. Jenny unlocked the door, and we all gasped while looking around the room. It was even better than I could have imagined, the bathroom had a sleek modern look, and there were two queen-sized beds in the room.
We decided that staying in the same room and getting ready together would be more fun, plus it saved us money, and as college students, we were all about saving money. There was a small table in the room, and as I made my way over to it, I saw there was a champagne bucket sitting in the center of it, with a small card.
I picked up the card, reading it, my eyes glossing with tears. Just a heads up, I'm crier. The card read, "Happy 21st Birthday Char! We love you and cannot wait to celebrate with you. Thanks for being the best friend ever. Let's party!" I seriously have the sweetest friends. I turned around, hugging all three of them.
"I have no idea what I would do without you guys," I said seriously.
"Now now now, enough with all the sentimental stuff. Let's get ready to celebrate!"
Instantly, I got butterflies, excited for the night to come. The date was Thursday, August 11th, and as of midnight, I would be 21.
