Charlotte POV
Once Jake got back, we divided the food until we both had what we ordered. I reached onto the tray and grabbed a napkin. After I picked up, my napkin, I notice some writing on the one underneath. Jake picked up the napkin, blushing a little while reading it, and then shoved it underneath the tray.
I couldn't help but feel a little pang of jealousy, but I wasn't sure why. We weren't together, but I wondered what could be on there that would make him blush. I'm sure it was from the worker at the counter, due to the fact that she was flirting with him and extremely rude to me.
"Well, are you ready start this game?"
"Sure," I said shrugging. I felt bad, it's not that I was annoyed with him, but I wasn't really sure what I was feeling.
"Okay, it's simple. You ask me a question, I answer, and we'll go back and forth." I nodded, letting him know that I understood.
"Do you want to go first, or should I?"
"You can go first," I answered nervously, not knowing how this would go.
"Okay, well. What are we going to do bout this rivalry?"
"What rivalry?" I asked, confusion clear in my voice.
"Well," he started, "you're a St. Louis fan, and I'm a Chicago fan. We're rivals in every sport. What are we going to do about that?" I laughed, not expecting that question at all.
"Hmm... well I guess after this weekend is over, we'll have to agree to meet up for at least one hockey game and one baseball game in each of our cities, and we'll determine which team is better. How's that sound?"
He looked at me, with a genuine smile, and said, "That sounds great."
"Alright, well I guess it's my turn to ask a question." I thought about it for a second, before asking, "What's your sister's name, and how old is she?"
He smiled when I finished my question, and that made my heart flutter. It was evident how much he loves her. "Her name is Addison, and she's 7."
Wow, that's a pretty big age gap. "Well, it's pretty clear how much you love her," I told him smiling.
"Okay, my turn. Who's on the background of your phone?" he asked, throwing me off guard.
I clicked the lock button, looking at it and smiling softly. It was a picture of my dad and I when I was around 3. It was my favorite picture of us, and looking at it made my eyes gloss with tears. I blinked my eyes quickly to get rid of them, and looked up.
"It's my dad," I answered honestly. Better to keep it short, I'm sure he doesn't want to hear my sob story, and quite frankly I don't want to tell it. He opened his mouth to respond, but I cut him off quickly. "Okay, my turn! What's your favorite thing to do in your spare time?"
"Either watch movies, or go to sports games," he replied. "What's the worst thing that's ever happened to you?" he asked, looking into my eyes.
I just sat there for a second, debating on whether or not to tell him, while his eyes looked like they were searching for something in mine. I felt as if I could trust him, and if I couldn't, well I wouldn't see him after this weekend. "When my dad died." His features softened, but he didn't seem very surprised.
"How many exes have you had?" I asked, before I really even thought about the question. He flinched slightly, but I noticed.
"One," he said, giving me the feeling that he didn't want to discuss it any more. "What's your favorite kind of movie?"
I smiled, appreciating the fact that we were back to talk about small stuff. "Horror movies."
"Really? I pegged you as more of a RomCom kind of girl," he said teasingly.
"Well, like I told you, full of surprises. Okay, if you could only eat one thing for the rest of your life, what would you pick?"
"Easy, deep dish pizza," he said with a smile. "Alright, last question. Were you jealous when you saw the napkin?"
"What?" I asked shocked.
"When you saw the number on the napkin, were you jealous?"
I thought about it for a second, finally answering, "Yeah, I was. I don't know why, because I don't have a reason to be, but I was." He asked me to be honest, so here I was, being completely honest. After answering, I knew what my last question would be.
"Were you jealous when the bartender flirted with me?" remembering what his face earlier at the bar.
"Yeah, I was. I don't know why, because I don't have a reason to be, but I was," and with a smile, he got up to throw our trash away, while I just sat at the table smiling to myself.
By the time we left Shake Shack, it was a little after 3:00 am. I texted Jenny to see where they were, and she said that she and Ashley were in Kyle and Aiden's room, watching a movie, while Sarah went to hang out with Caleb. Ryder and Mason had texted Jake, saying they were heading back to their room.
"Do you want to come to my room and hang out with Sarah and Caleb, or do you to head back to yours?" Right after he finished, I let out a massive yawn. He laughed, and said, "Come on, I'll walk you to your room."
The elevator ride up to my floor was silent, but it was a comfortable silence. We walked to my room, and as we stood outside of my door, he finally broke the silence.
"So, I actually have a sixth question."
"And what would that be?" I asked.
"I know that tomorrow is our last full day here, but I was wondering, would you want to spend the day with me tomorrow? I promise it'll be worth it," he tried his best to sound confident, but I could tell he was nervous.
"Yeah, I'd like that," I responded with a smile. It was a genuine smile, one that I hadn't directed towards a guy in a long time.
"Does 11:00 sound okay?"
"That sounds great!"
He leaned in, and gave me a quick kiss on the forehead, and said, "Goodnight Charlotte."
"Goodnight Jake," I said with a smile, "I'll see you in the morning."
