Jake POV
Shortly after the girls left, the guys and I headed back to the hotel. As we walked in, they were talking about how much fun they had tonight, and pretty loudly, might I add. I couldn't be too mad at them, because I had a lot fun tonight too. Although I'm still pissed at myself for not asking her name. Seriously, who does that? Once we got up to our floor, we all went back to our rooms, saying a small goodbye to one another.
I was silent all the way back to the room, and once the door shut, Caleb finally said something. "Alright dude, what is up with you? I didn't want to say anything to the guys, but you seem pissed off about something."
"It's nothing, no big deal."
"Jake, I'm your best friend. Tell me now."
"Ugh. I didn't even ask her what her name was." I said, laying back and throwing a pillow over my head.
"Wait, you mean the girl from the club?"
"Yes."
Caleb let out a laugh, "Well we know they're staying in our hotel, maybe you'll see her again."
"Yeah, maybe." I replied, knowing that with my luck, I'd never see her again.
I woke up to hear Caleb talking to someone at the door. Looking at the clock, I saw it was 4:30 am. Who in the hell could he be talking to at 4:30 in the morning? Sighing, I got up from my bed and started walking towards the door.
"Caleb, what's going on man?" I asked, my voice sounding tired.
"I don't know Jake, you deal with it." Caleb turned around and walked away from the doorway. Passing by me, he whispered, "You're welcome," and headed back to his bed.
Confused, I looked at the door to see the girl from the bar. God, I don't know if you can hear me, but I owe you one. She was still in her dress and sash, indicating she had never gone back to her room, and I wondered why. "How'd you find my room?" I asked.
"I...uh.... I didn't find your room. Th-This is my room," she replied stuttering. She was cute when she was nervous. The she got a phone call, and while she was talking I just looked at her, amused. Why did I want to know so much about this girl? She hung up the phone, and immediately her cheeks flushed.
"Um...I... I think I'm at the wrong room. Well actually, right room wrong floor."
I smiled down at her, "And here I was, thinking you were here to see me. I'm hurt Birthday Girl."
She started rambling out an apology, and all I could think about was how funny this situation was, and how crazy it was that she ended up at my door. By the time I pulled myself out of my thoughts, she was half way down the hall. Crap, I still didn't ask her name! I quickly switched the extra lock on the door, keeping the door open so I wouldn't be locked out. I darted after her, asking her to wait, but she sped up her pace. I finally reached her at the elevator, out of breath.
"At least... at least tell me your name." I pleaded.
"Charlotte. My name is Charlotte." She said, the doors closing right after.
Walking back to my room, I couldn't help but smile. "Charlotte." A pretty name for a pretty girl.
The guys and I spent most of the next day in the casino, hoping to win big. Unfortunately, that didn't happen for any of us. A couple of us came out a little bit ahead, but none of us ended up millionaires. On the way back up to the room, we were trying to figure out what we were going to do for the night.
"Man, I wish we could hang out with those chicks again, they were fun," Kyle said, and some of the other guys agreed. We got to our floor, and the guys got out of the elevator while I stayed behind.
"Jake, what're you doing man?" Aiden asked, looking confused.
"You guys can thank me later," I said, pressing the first floor button.
Once I got to the first floor, I ran to room 812 and knocked loudly. An elderly man answered the door, and I figured it wasn't the right room, but I had to ask, "Is there a Charlotte here?" He looked at me, clearly annoyed, and said, "We don't know a Charlotte, please leave us alone."
I made my way back to the elevator, and went to 812 on the second floor. A middle-aged woman answered the door, wearing a dress that was way too revealing for her age. Thinking it was possibly Charlotte's mom, I asked tentatively, "Is there a Charlotte staying in this room?"
The woman looked me up and down, making me extremely uncomfortable, "I mean, I could change my name to Charlotte if you want." When I say I sprinted back to the elevator, I mean I literally sprinted. We were staying on the third floor, so hopefully she would be on the fourth.
I knocked on the door nervously, not knowing what to expect. When the door opened, it was definitely not what I was expecting. Charlotte opened the door, which made me smile, but I immediately blushed when I realized she was only in a towel.
"Uh... h-hi," I stuttered feeling nervous.
"Hey! How'd you know this was my room?" she questioned.
We continued to talk for a short period of time, and I explained to her exactly how I ended up at her room, when one of her friends said something, and she realized what she was wearing.
"Give me one sec!" she said as she slammed the door. I waited in the hallway, trying to calm my nerves. She came back wearing a long St. Louis Blues t-shirt, and my heart bursted with excitement. Knowing she liked hockey made me even more interested in getting to know her. I asked her how she was planning on celebrating her birthday, and she told me her plans.
Nervously, I asked, "Well, my friends and I had such a fun time with you guys last night, we were wondering if we could help you celebrate you 21st again tonight? If that's okay with you guys.."
She disappeared back into the door, and came back holding no expression. Immediately I regretted asking, but then she said yes. After agreeing to meet in the lobby, I couldn't help but fist pump in the middle of the hallway. Now all I had to do was go tell the guys.
