Secrets and Memories

Chapter 8

Doc was a great teacher and kept the whole class entertained. I'd so far been to five of his classes and learnt that he'd been all over Medora, with plenty of adventures and things learnt.

But as interesting as he was, I always tuned out on the actual parts where we had to learn the curriculum stuff. It was mostly boring and for the one lesson we'd had on the actual curriculum, we learned a little about the war between this girl named Alex and a dude called Aven. Overall, it had been a sorta boring two hours of my life.

But I didn't skip Doc's class so I could hear his stories and so far I'd heard quite a few of them. I wanted to hear them and gain information. I could hear about some of the other races of Medora and other creatures. I could use the information if I needed to.

"Right class. Today we'll be learning about why Alex came to Medora and how she got here. But don't spread the word about Alex too far and wide. She doesn't like the publicity of being Medora's saviour and everyone asking all these questions about Freya. But she allowed us to teach and briefly talk about her past for the sake of your learning." It sounded like it was going to be another boring lesson so I tuned out immediately. I kept one ear slightly open in case he asked us to do something, but mostly retreated inside my brain.

I wasn't in my thoughts long before my ears picked up something interesting Doc was saying.

"Now as I said, Alex came from Freya. She was summoned by the Library, to come to Akarnae to learn about her gift and help defeat Aven when the time came for that. She was confused at first, but she accepted her destiny and fulfilled her prophecy. Since the war, she's been working as a part time sword warden for the King and Queen of Tryllin and their successors, the prince and princess. She comes into Akarnae every now and then when she feels like it." Doc looks around the room smiling.

"But what's most interesting, is that about 8 years ago, another person came from Freya. We don't know the person's exact age or anything about them for that matter, except that they came from Freya. How we know this you ask? Alex. She had a feeling around eight years ago that suggests that hints at another Freyan coming to Medora. And, we found a dead Meyarin body with a slit throat." Doc's eyes scan the room and his smile disappears.

"If this Freyan brings another war like the one against Aven, I don't know how long this world will continue. All these wars at ruining people and our home. All of your parents would've survived the Great War against Aven and some might even have fought him." His voice turns grave and it sends a shiver down my back.

"War is a horrible thing and it's not something to be taken lightly. If this Freyan came to Medora, there is a chance there'll be another war. The question though, is when? And against who?" There is silence in the room and I take a shaky breath.

"Doc, how old do you think the Freyan is now?" My voice doesn't waver or wobble and I'm thankful. I'm pretty sure it's not me but I still wanted to know. Maybe the Freyan was that girl in the basement? I felt an attachment to the topic and wanted to research more into who this Freyan was.

Doc quirks his head before looking at the ceiling to the room.

"I suspect they're either coming to Akarnae next year, or are in Akarnae already. I doubt they came to Medora at an age younger than 4 or 5 because they'd probably be dead otherwise. And doing the math, that makes them either 12 or older. Unless they came around the same age Alex came, then they will have already graduated hopefully. Their gift will be a strong one I suspect and they'll be prepared to fight for everyone. This next Freyan will hopefully be the end to all our wars." No one talks or even remarks at the thought that a Freyan could be among us. We're all too nervous about the knowledge that another war could be coming.

"Well, now that that parts done, let's have a few minutes break before we start learning about what actually happened in the war." I completely tune out again and don't even bother listening for instructions.

There was someone out there that came from Freya but no one knew who. I felt a weird curiosity toward the topic of being summoned and made a mental note to learn more about it at lunch.

"Eraeya, who do you think the summoned person is?" Himari breaks me out of my thoughts with her whisper. I'm a little surprised because it usually takes the loud ring of the bell to bring me out but I guessed it was because she was right next to me.

"I don't know, but I plan on finding out." I wanted to know. For more than one reason.

I wonder who the summoned person is??

FF: The only person who has the same potential with her for Equestrian is Lora. They're both in Beta which is Eraeya's weakest subject. It's not coz she doesn't like horses, she just prefers to use her darkness and gets bored in class. (Plus... she also thinks horses don't like her)
