Cara's POV:

Present.

Beep. Beep. Beep.

I groan and turn over in bed.

Beep. Beep. Beep.

The noise continues and I sit up quickly. I look around the dark room for the source of the evil beeping. It's coming from the other side of the bed. I climb over Harry and he stirs under me. I reach for his pants and pull out his phone. I shut off his alarm and he sits up.

"What time is it?" he asks, grogily.

"6:30," I tell him, the annoyance in my voice extremely evident. He rubs his eyes and yawns.

"Time to get up," he says and then falls back on the bed. I roll my eyes and shake him. He mumbles something incoherent and I smack his chest.

"Get up. We have to go to work," I say and start towards the bathroom. I shut the door and turn on the shower. He knocks at the door and I sigh. "What?"I call.

"Open the door. I gotta piss," he calls back.

"I have another bathroom. Use it," I yell over the spray of the shower. I jump under the water and I hear him yell something back but I can't make it out. I wash up quickly then shut off the water. After wrapping my hair and body with a towel I open the door and enter my room.

I move to my closet and pull out my clothes. I pull back the curtains in my room and look outside. The sun was setting and it looked like it had snowed. I jump when I feel his hand on my shoulder.

"Woah. It's just me," he says. I turn and glare at him but it doesn't last long. I take in his wet hair and the towel hanging low on his waist. I look away and hold the towel tighter around me. He glances out the window as I walk back towards the closet. "Looks like it snowed."

"Yeah. Do you have a jacket here?" I ask him. He turns to me and shrugs.

"If not I can stop by home and grab one," he says. I nod and go back in the closet to get dressed. I step out a minute later fully dressed. Harry is sitting on the bed tying his shoes. He walks over to me and kisses my cheek.

"See you there," he says. I nod as he pulls away. I hear the front door shut and go to do my hair. As I wait for the straightener to get hot I think about Harry.

Harry and I had been working together at the hospital for at least four years now. And a year and a half of that was spent as friends with benefits. We had found comfort in each other without feelings. After what happened with Liam I was emotionally unavaliable to anyone else. But physically was a different story.

I'd been on dates with other guys but they never got very far. And then one day after work I was feeling down so I went to the bar. Harry happened to be there. Long story short he offered me comfort without having to tell him everything. And then three or four drinks later we ended up at my house. And that's when this all started.

We never told each other much about our pasts but we were still there for each other. Occasionally something would slip but he would never press me on the issue. That's why it worked so well between us. We didn't gain feelings, our relationship was strictly physical.

Once my hair was done I slipped on my shoes and grabbed my things and head to my car. The drive to the hosptial isn't too bad. Thankfully it stopped snowing. Once there I get my coffee and coat and head up to my floor.

"Good moring Dr. Kingston," I'm greeted by Niall as he rushes to try and keep up with me.

"Morning Niall. How are you today?" I ask politely.

"I'm okay. How are you?"

"I'm good," I answer. A commotion starts down the hall and Niall sighs.

"I'll see you later Dr. Kingston," he says and takes off in the direction on the commotion.

Liam's POV:

I felt like I was dying. Maybe I was. All I know was that where ever I was it was dark and I couldn't move. I heard voices talking to me and felt people touching me. I wanted to open my eyes but my body wasn't responding.

"He has three broken ribs, a broken arm and mild head trauma. Plus multiple bruises and lacerations," a male voice says.

"Get Dr. Kingston,"another voice says. This time a female one. I hear movement and a door opening and closing. Someone touches my hand and it's silent for a moment before the door opens again.

"What do we have?" another female voice says. I can't help but feel like I've heard that voice before.

"He was in a car accident. He attained three broken ribs, broken arm, and mild head trauma. Dr. Kingston? Are you okay?" the male asks.

"Patient name?" the doctor asks.

"Uh. Liam Payne," the other girl says then there's a pause. "What's wrong?"

"Nothing. Lets get to work," I'm assuming the doctor says. I hear more shuffling and I'm being touched again. Something white blinds me and then it gets dark again.

"Liam? Can you hear me?" the doctor asks.

"Yes. I can," I say. Or at least I think I do. I can only hear my voice in my head. Not out loud. I try to nod my head but I can't do that either. I will my body to move but nothing is happening.

"He's not responding. And it looks like his head trauma is severe. Get him ready for an emergency surgery," the doctor orders the other two voices in the room. Again the door opens and I feel a hand on my face and a heavy sigh.

"Are you okay?" the male asks.

"Yeah. I'm fine. I'll tell Dr. Styles about the surgery. Make sure he's ready," Dr. Kingston says and I hear more footsteps and the door opens. It bothers me that I can't place that voice. It sounds so familiar. And the fact that I was completely immobile right now was pissing me off even more. What the hell was happening to me?

A/N: Okay so pretty short chapter but what did you think?
