Liam's POV:

Past.

"How do I look?" she asks stepping out of the room. I smile at her. The light blue dress looked lovely on her. She looked incredibly beautiful but with a sexiness that only I could see.

"Absolutely gorgeous," I say. She rolls her eyes but her cheeks redden from my compliment. She walks over to me and straightens out my tie.

"You look rather dashing yourself Mr.Payne," she says. I shake my head in amusement.

"Well looks like we'll be the best dressed couple there," I say.

"Aside from the bride and groom," she replies. "So how long has it been since you last saw your cousin?" she asks.

"Awhile. We're not really cousins. She's Ethan's daughter. She's three years older than me. But we were around each other a lot when we were kids. She's more like a sister to me but she was long gone before I graduated high school," I explain. She nods.

"I'm sure your happy to see her again," she says. I nod.

"Yeah. I can't wait to introduce you to her," I say.

"Well then lets get going," she says. I grab the keys and we head out the door. A cool was starting to set in the air. I couldn't believe that this was already my last year. By June I would be done with my degree. The time seemed to be flying by.

Cara puts on one of her CD's and turns the volume on low. She sits back and I reach over and take her hand in mine. We remain quiet for a few songs then she sits up and turns the music all the way down. I look at her.

"Can I ask you something?" she asks.

"Of course," I respond.

"Do you still believe in the whole marriage thing? I mean I know you used to. But after all that's happened, is it still a goal of yours?" she asks. I bite my lip and think about that for a moment.

"Yeah. I think it still is. I would still like to marry and have a family. My parents situation did kinda break my heart but I still have high hopes for my future," I answer honestly. She nods. "Why do you ask?"

She sighs.

"I was just wondering. I never really asked since it was still a touchy subject for so long but you seem better now. How do you think it'll be with them in the same place today?" she asks. I shrug.

"I have no idea. As far as I know they've talked as little as possible but its usually about me so who knows. I expect my dad to be drinking a lot and my mom to be avoiding him." She nods and looks away.

"It's fine. Everybody's family is dysfunctional in some way or another," she says coolly.

"Yeah. But it is a wedding. Of a family friend. They should behave at least for a day. But then again who knows what will happen," I say. She takes my hand and squeezes it reassuringly.

"It'll be fine, Li," she says. I smile and kiss the back of her hand.

"Woah. Ethan lives here?" Cara asks as I help her out of the car. I nod.

"Yup. But don't be fooled. He wasn't always loaded. This was all pretty recent. Like five years ago. When the restaurant really started picking up. It cost him a fortune to start up because it's so near Times Square. He was actually on the brink of losing it but I guess miracles do happen."

"Well. That's pretty crazy," she says. I lead her up the cobblestone steps lined with roses. The weather was pretty warm today. Making everything have a nice glow that sometimes came with spring in New York.
