Liam's POV:

Present.

I was starting to get irritated. Every time Cara came into the room Arolyn was there so I couldn't talk to her. I tried sneaking her looks but she avoided looking at me. I was two seconds from screaming at her to please talk to me.

I didn't think I'd ever see her again. Although that's one of the reasons why I wanted to move back to Pennsylvania. I was hoping I would see her again. Just under different circumstances. I always wondered what it would be like to see her again. She was definitely still beautiful. At least that didn't change.

But I couldn't get past what happened earlier. She literally shut me down. She barely looked at me and when she did I saw sadness and anger. It almost looked as if she hated me. Maybe she did. But I refused to believe that. We were so in love. You don't just go from loving someone to hating them. But it has been ten years of held in emotions, a little voice in my head reminds me.

"Liam," Arolyn's voice breaks through my thoughts. I blink a few times then look at her.

"What?"

"Did you hear what I said?" she asks.

"No sorry. I spaced out," I say. She huffs and puts on that fake smile of hers.

"I was asking if you wanted me to call your mom. She should be here," She says.

"No. Don't call her. We don't need her worrying," I say.

"Liam. I think she would want to know if her son was in an accident," she says with that tone. She only used that tone when she was scolding me. It was like her motherly voice.

"There's no point in worrying her Arolyn. I'm fine now," I snap. Her jaw tenses and she stands up.

"I'm going to call her anyway," she starts towards the door.

"Arolyn don't," I call after her. I try to sit up but the slight pain in my head causes me to lay back down. My head is pounding and my eyes start to water. I reach for the nurses button. I place a hand on my head and close my eyes waiting for the throbbing to go away. After what seems like ages the door finally opens.

"Something wrong Mr. Payne?" I slowly open my eyes and nod, but that only makes it worse.

"My head," I say. He nods and move to one of the machines.

"Looks like your pain medication is almost out. Let me get you some more," he says and begins to leave.

"Wait," I call after him. "I need to speak to Ca.. I mean Dr. Kingston," I tell him.

"I actually think she's busy at the moment but I'll find out," he says and leaves. I lay back and close my eyes. Before I know it I'm dosing off again.

I hear noises and my eyes snap open. My vision slowly comes to and I notice Arolyn is still gone and the nurse is at the machine again.

"Oh you're awake again," he says. "Dr. Kingston is busy but I told her you needed to speak with her," he tells me. I rub my eyes and nod.

"Thank you, uh..." I say.

"Niall," he finishes.

"Niall. Thank you Niall," I say. He smiles.

"No problem Mr. Payne," he says.

"Please call me Liam," I tell him.

"Alright. Is there anything else I can do for you Liam?" he asks.

"No. I think that's it," I say. He nods again and leaves. I lay back and sigh. She probably wasn't even busy. She was probably just avoiding me. Honestly I didn't even know what I'd say to her. After thinking about this for years I'm now coming up blank. But I needed to think of something and fast.
