Cara's POV:

Past.

I was slowly being pulled out of my slumber. Becoming more and more aware. I could feel the chill of early morning on my back. But the rest of me was warm. Then it hit me. Liam was here. I open my eyes and smile at the sight of a sleeping Liam. He looked peaceful and happy. He had an arm around me, holding me to him.

I sit up and climb out of bed slowly. He stirs slightly as I stand up from the bed. I make my way to the bathroom as quietly as I can. I quickly brush my teeth and wipe the sleep from my eyes. I fix my hair and tiptoe back to the room. He's still asleep.

I debate whether or not to wake him up and be cute or if I should just let him sleep. I didn't know if he would be a good person to wake up so I decide to take a gentle approach. I walk over to the bed and lay on his chest again. I plant little kisses on his chest and neck and jaw. He groans and I stop.

"Why did you stop?" he mumbles groggily.

"I didn't mean to wake you," I lie innocently. He opens one eye and looks at me. A smile creeps over his face and he reaches out and touches my cheek.

"I find that hard to believe," he teases.

"Okay. So maybe it was on purpose," I admit.

"I thought so," he laughs.

"So I was thinking..." I start. He gives me a questioning look. "Since last night wasn't the best, we should do something today. Well if you're not busy."

"What did you have in mind?" he asks.

"Well that's as far I my thought process went," I say. He thinks for a moment then smiles.

"Have you ever been to New York?" he asks.

"Once. When I was little. Why?"

"Get dressed," he says and gets out of the bed.

"Wait. You want to drive to New York?" I ask. He nods. "We can't just drive to New York. It's like a four hour drive."

"Technically three hours and forty five minutes," he corrects me. I narrow my eyes playfully at him.

"You're serious?" I ask.

"Yes. Why not? It would be fun. And we would be back early. So we can get plenty of rest before class tomorrow," he says. As fun as it sounded something about New York scared me. I've only been once and that was when I was little so of course I was with my parents.

"I don't know," I say quietly.

"What's wrong?" he asks.

"It's just New York is kinda scary to me. I know I sound stupid but I don't know I didn't have the best experience there when I was little," I explain.

"You don't sound stupid. And we don't have to go. I was just trying to think out of the box. But for the record, you'd be completely safe with me," he tells me. I smile and he sits back on the bed and leans over to kiss my forehead.

"Okay. Lets go," I say suddenly.

"But you just said..." he starts.

"I did. But I trust you. So like you said why not?"

"Are you sure?" I nod.

"Absolutely," I say. He smiles.

"Okay. Let me go to my dorm and change and I'll be back in about thirty minutes," he says as he pulls his pants on.

"Okay. I'll be ready when you get back," I say. He ties his shoes and pulls on his jacket.

"Be back soon," he says and kisses me once before leaving. I sit there for good five minutes before getting up. I don't know why but I was actually a little excited to go. I never returned to New York after that one trip as a kid but now I was making an exception for Liam.
