Cara's POV:

Present.

The smell of bacon fills my nose and I turn over in bed. I slowly open my eyes and my darkening room comes into view. Harry isn't in the room so it's safe to assume he's the one in the kitchen. I sigh and climb out of bed. I pick up my panties and slip them on along with his shirt that's lying on the floor. I make my way to the kitchen where Harry is standing in front of my stove. He looks up at me and smiles.

"Morning. Or should I say evening," he says.

"Hey. What are you doing?" I ask and sit down at the table.

"Making breakfast," he says.

"Breakfast is for the morning," I say. He turns and laughs.

"No. Breakfast is for whenever the day starts. And ours starts in the evening," he counters and I shrug.

"So why the random act of kindness?" I ask. He stops and turns to me. He bites the inside of his bottom lip, a habit I've grown used to, and shrugs.

"I thought I'd do something nice for you after the bad day you had yesterday," he says. With the reminder of what I have to face, I sigh. He sets a plate of eggs, bacon and toast right in front of me and I smile weakly up at him. He sits across from me and starts eating. I look down at the plate and push the eggs around with my fork.

"I don't think I can see him again," I mumble quietly. He stops chewing and looks at me with a sad expression.

"Why?" he asks.

"Because it's hard. He broke my heart and I was never the same after that," I say quietly.

"You can get through this Cara. I know you can. You just can't let him get to you," he says. I nod. But how the hell was I supposed to do that? Just knowing he would be under the same roof as me was nerve wracking. And then given his condition he would probably be there for two to three months. So I had to keep the fact that I know him hidden for three months.

"Easier said then done," I say.

"If you want I can take his case off your hands," he offers but I shake my head.

"No. It's fine. I'll figure something out," I mumble. He nods and picks his fork up again. I do the same and eat the food slowly. Once I'm to the point where my head stops pounding and I feel full enough I get up and put my plate in the sink. Harry follows. I make my way to the bedroom with him close behind.

I start to unbutton his shirt and he wraps his arms around me. He kisses my neck and I close my eyes. The gesture feels much too intimate. He runs the tips of his fingers over my bare stomach and goosebumps rise on my skin. I pull away and turn to face him.

"I'm gonna go take a shower," I say and rush to the bathroom. I take a long shower letting the hot water calm me. When I finally get out the whole bathroom is steaming. When I push open the door to my room I don't see Harry.

"Harry?" I call. No answer. I poke my head out of my bedroom but all the lights in the house are off. I go to my closet to find a note posted to the door.

See you at work.

I sigh and get ready for work.

Liam's POV:

"You what?" I ask loudly.

"Why are you so surprised? I told you I was calling her," Arolyn says and sits down next to the bed.

"Why would you do that? After I specifically told you there's no point in worrying her?" I shout. She licks her lips and looks away.

"Calm down Liam. Don't stress yourself out," she scolds. I open my mouth to yell again but close it back up. It didn't matter what I said now. My mom was already on her way. I sigh heavily and run a hand down my face in irritation.

"I can't believe you," I mutter.

"Don't act so surprised Liam. You knew what you were getting into when you married me," she says. I laugh once.

"You weren't like this when I married you," I retaliate. The look that crosses her face immediately disappears but it still makes me feel guilty for saying it. "I didn't..."

"Save it," she says and stands up. "I'm going to go find Louis," she says. I nod and she leaves the room. I groan and press the nurses button. About ten minutes later Niall shows up with a cheery smile.

"What's the matter Mr. Payne?" he asks.

"Please call me Liam. Is Dr. Kingston here?" I ask.

"Not yet," he says.

"Can you please tell her I need to speak to her when as soon as possible?" I ask. He nods and turns to leave. I lay back and click on the TV. I flip through the ten channels they give us before giving up and shutting it off. The door opens and I look up, hoping for Cara but get Arolyn. And Louis.

"Oh look who's awake again. Good thing too. Or they might've thought you were dead," Louis says and I glare at him. I don't know why but Louis and I have never gotten along. Even back when Arolyn and I were dating he hated me. That only seemed to grow when we got married.

"Louis. Be nice," Arolyn scolds him. He rolls his eyes and plops down on the chair by the door.

"Why should I?" Louis asks.

"Because..." Arolyn starts to scold him again but I cut her off.

"What is your problem with me? Ever since you met me you've been nothing but an asshole," I shout. Arolyn's eyes widen at my tone and Louis gets up.

"You better watch your tone or I'll make sure you don't wake up next time," he starts towards me but Arolyn stands in front of him.

"I just asked a question. Why can't you answer it? What did I ever do to you?"

"You dated my sister. I'm her older brother. I'm supposed to be protective over her," he snaps.

"Yeah protective. Not a dick," I say. He tries to push past Arolyn but she doesn't let him pass. She pushes him towards the door.

"Lets go. You both need a break," they leave the room and I sigh. I shake my head and huff. I didn't even know why he was here. He hated me. He had no reason to be here. I understand Arolyn was his sister but I'm married to her not him. I was going to go crazy if he stayed. And who knows how long I had to stay here.

Cara's POV:

"Hello Dr. Kingston," Niall greets me like he does everyday. I smile and my eyes immediately scan the room for Harry but come up empty. "Oh. Dr. Kingston." I keep walking knowing that Niall will be following close behind. "I almost forgot. Mr. Payne needs to speak with you. He said it was urgent."

Oh no. I forgot about Liam. I still wasn't ready to see him. But nonetheless I smile and nod.

"Alright. I'll talk to him during my rounds," I assure him. He nods and turns in the opposite direction. I set my things down and put my coat on. I check my patients and decide to leave Liam for last to psych myself up. Hopefully I was ready for this.

A/N: Hey guys. So I got a job which means less frequent updates but I'll try and update as soon as possible.
