Loved For Once (Levi x Reader)

•Chapter Forty•

"(Y/N)? Why are you here? I thought I told you to leave." Levi crosses his arms, showing disappointment. I rolled my eyes. Seeing him like this is never fun. It tears my heart apart.

"I was being chased, okay?! I didn't know where to go.." I told him. Even though my heart hurts so much, I know I have to move on one day. "Shit.." he muttered.

I put Eli down on the floor and she made her way to Levi. She rubbed her head against his leg. That was one of the ways cats show affection.

"I'll have Mikasa guard you know your house—." I shook my head, "No. I don't want your help. The
only reason why I came here was because I panicked. Not that I missed you or anything." I crossed my arms and looked away from Levi.

I do miss you.

"We're done, remember? Your decision." I spat. I ignored the defeated sigh he let out and turned to leave. "Keep Eli. It's for the best." I then walked into the elevator and left.

Once I was outside, I took my knife out for defense. I made sure it was hidden so I wasn't questioned even though it's very early and no one is out at this hour.

"She slipped through our hands, boss. What shall we do?" A man asked through the phone. There was a long wait before Kenny spoke, but once he did, he didn't sound to happy. "Well damn! Then we will do plan B! Hurt her mentally when she cannot take anymore and..." Kenny then laughed.

"What? Who was this man? Was that the reason you were gone?" My friend asked. "Not entirely. I was gone because my friend that you don't know, asked me to stay with her because she didn't feel safe in her house and then I met him and then.." I pause to take a breath.

Who knew that I could make up a story that didn't sound like total bullshit? "We broke up because..he didn't love me anymore. I guess I was a toy to him.." I told her. The only true thing I said was the toy thing. That's all I am to him.

A toy.

"I'm so sorry..there's plenty fish in the sea, (Y/N)!" She then smiled at me, which gave me a reassuring feeling. "I don't know what I would do if I lost you. You always know what to say." I smile at her. She smiles at me like always.

It was the end of the day and I was walking home. I passed the spot that started it all and tried not to think about it. Well, that was until Armin magically was beside me. I jumped, but managed to not scream. "What the hell?" I whispered.

"I'm sorry, I just saw you and I.." he tried to explain, but failed. I can't live like this. This mafia thing has messed me up big time. It's tone I cut it out for good. "Armin.." I then hug him one last time and smile at the blond haired shorty. "I'll be going away..for good. The only way to keep me safe is to not talk to you or anyone else from the Mafia.." I let go of him and step back from him.

"I understand. Just let me walk you home."

Once I was home, I finally let all of my tears out. I didn't want to leave them. I didn't want to leave him. I wanted to spend the rest of my life there. But I can't. I can't because of him!

I got rid of Eli because I couldn't stand it. I can't have any connections to them. It was then when I looked at my ring that was currently on my finger. As much as my mind told me to take it off, I couldn't. It felt wrong to.

Maybe just one thing..

I wake up to my phone ringing over and over again. Who's calling this early? I picked up the phone and answered the call. "Hello?" On the other line was one of the male doctors. Why was he calling? "(Y/N)..she died.." he said.

Who..?

"Turn on the news.." he told me. I rushed to get the remote and turned on the TV. I went to the news channel and couldn't believe who they were talking about.

There's plenty fish in the sea, (Y/N)!

She..was murdered.

I hung up the phone and put it down. I then punched the wall, causing my hand to turn red, but I didn't care. "Kenny!" I shouted.

I quickly got ready and rushed out to the hospital. It's funny because I can't tell anyone who killed her. They would question me. 'How do you know, (Y/N)?' They would ask. I can't tell them I was in the Mafia and our rival is ruining my life because I was close to Levi.

News flash Kenny, were over!

"(Y/N)!" I quickly snapped out of my thoughts and looked in the direction of the voice calling my name. "Yes" I quickly respond. "I'm so sorry, I know how close you were with her.." it was one of the nurses. I frown at the sight of her read eyes. She was crying.

"Let's keep our heads up, okay? Keep going, no matter the cost. Alright?" I fake a smile, trying to bring the nurse's mood up. When I saw her smile, I knew i succeeded. "You're always the best with cheering people up!" She smiles.

The ones who smile the most shed the most tears.

"Woman is murdered. Murderer still on the loose. The woman was from where (Y/N) works." Hange announces. Levi thinks for a moment. He then sighs and gets up from his chair. "He's gonna keep doing that. We're lucky she doesn't have family, or she'll be mentally screwed." Levi says.

"We have to do something. This is your fault." Hange crossed her arms and looked at Levi with a mad expression. He rolled his eyes, "What am I supposed to do?! He's gonna end up getting her no matter what!" He says out loud.

"You're an idiot! Kill Kenny and be done with it! I can't believe you brought her into this mess! You guys were such a cute couple, but then this happened. You made the wrong decision and the consequence is you being depressed and (Y/N) being chased until she's killed!" Hange then ran out of the office, leaving Levi alone to think about what she just said.

"I'm an idiot.." he muttered to himself.
