Chapter 2

Hotdog

The man offered me his hand. I was very hesitant. What if he's one of the President's men? What if he saved me because he was asked to catch me?

I know my parents wouldn't believe me!

Sino ang kakampi ko?

Si Hira? Could she digest what her brother had done with me? I bet no! They will just believe that I tried to escape from them!

Because they all see me as a rebel. No one will believe me. No one.

"Miss?" needless to say that the man's tone was laced with concern.

His hand was still in the air, waiting for me to reach it. But could I really trust this man?

No.

I was still gripping the branch of a tree as it carried my whole body. I tried to move my feet to reach the stream's floor surface but I failed. My feet couldn't feel any solid matter beneath. It was surely as deep as hell.

What if... the President wants me to be killed? Because obviously what Miguel did to me was a disgrace, it will stink to their family name!

Is it really the dead end for me? The situation at hand made me realize how hopeless I am.

"MISS!" I heared the man scream. But it didn't stop me from drowning.

I saw the bubble floating around me, and at the very instant, it's still vivid to me how I feel the suffocation. Then the next thing I knew, I was leaving the world before I drifted into unconsciousness.

"MISS!"

I felt someone pumping my diaphragm upwards as if trying to empty my lungs that's surely filled with water.

"Miss ayos ka lang ba?" I still couldn't hear it properly. It was like a murmur.

The pumping stopped when I started to cough very harshly.

Everything was very fuzzy. Ganito ba sa langit? I was feeling lifeless and at the same time exhausted. It didn't what I expect in heaven, or I just expected too much?

And I have no idea how long it took me before I came back to my proper senses.

My lids felt sore and heavy. What the hell is happening?

I forcefully opened my eyes.

"San Pedro?" I asked weakly. Ang gwapo naman ni San Pedro.

The man's face didn't react. His thin lips were still in a grim line and his gaze still has not changed. The pair of eyes was very familiar to me... and if I could recall it right, these eyes were that last thing I saw before I drowned.
