Chapter 15
Trial
It has been almost five years and a lot has already happened. Eventually, I learned to fully accept my life. I found love in my career. I appreciate the fact that I get to help people through my knowledge and privileges. Especially, women. However, there's one thing did never change. My hate in politics.
I lost people, too, but that's completely okay. I did become better anyway.
On the other hand, my father was currently in his second term and obviously, his last year as the city's Governor. As what I expected, he already planned out everything from his campaign up to his possible seat in Malacañang Palace. The invitation for his candidacy as an Independent candidate has already filed and approved.
Yes, Independent candidate. My Dad decided to be not affiliated with any political party. I didn't know how that happened, but he and my mother, never get back the support of the current President. Maybe, my father found a way or sacrificed something so I wouldn't marry Miguel.
"Kinikilig ako!" Miles giggled.
I hired her as my Secretary.
Let's say just for the sake of lessening the unemployment rate of our country, I hired her.
I sighed and leaned back in my large swivel chair, rotating it slightly.
"What is it?" my brow arched.
"Do you remember, 'yung foreigner na sinabi ko sa 'yo noon?"
Kumunot ang aking noo. "I remember fragments of it."
"He asked me out!" she yelled in excitement.
"How? Akala ko ba taga-US 'yan? Pupunta ka roon?"
"No!
"That's insa-"
Namula ang kaniyang pisngi bago ngumuso. "Bitter ka lang, Frances."
"I'm not bitter, I'm just saying that's insane. Date thru video call?" I shook my head, still smiling.
She rolled her eyes. "Of course, work! Abogado rin 'to kaya 'wag mo minamaliit!"
That's good.
I lifted both of my arms as an act of surrender. "Okay, fine!"
"I have a boyfriend."
I smirked inwardly.
I love thinking that I have a boyfriend. I just like it that way though.
