I laid on the cold ground of my cell room, my eyes staring at the door but unfocused. I couldn't remember how long it had been since a First Order interrogator had come in. Their orders were to only keep me drugged out of my senses, but it was clear who feared Kylo Ren and those who did not. The last one had an interest in tasers and found it amusing to let me writhe on the floor with no way to defend myself. I couldn't blame him; I would've felt the same if I had the opportunity to punish someone who had killed people I cherished.
I had heard screams from a nearby room about an hour earlier, and it strangely brought me comfort to know I wasn't alone in my suffering. Right now, it was quiet. I couldn't hear a thing. The only thing keeping me awake was my racing thoughts. My X-Wing was still on Jakku, most likely blown to bits when the First Order desecrated the village. All of my belongings from my life alone, my clothes, my savings... were gone. BD-1 was probably scared out of his mind wherever he was being stored. Thanks to Jevo, I now had a droid to worry about. It was my fault for getting attached to him.
The cell door slid up, revealing two blurry figures. One was wearing mostly white, and I immediately knew him to be a Stormtrooper. The other was in a pale brown jacket I thought too good to be true.
"Poe..." I managed to say, but my voice barely carried. My throat was too raw from screaming in agony. He stumbled down towards me, clasping my head between his shackled hands, and I became aware of how heavy it weighed. Dried blood had dripped down the left side of his head, and his bottom lip was split open. "Poe?"
"Yeah, I'm here, Dessie," he chuckled, wincing at the action. I narrowed my eyes at the nickname he gave me, but I didn't really mind. "Oh, God, what did they do to you? We gotta get you out of here."
"I've told you already," the Stormtrooper told him in a mix of exasperation and fear. I didn't think there was anyone else on the ship besides the pilot and me against the Order. "The only thing we can take is a Tie Fighter. Rescuing you was dangerous enough. Coming to her cell is another thing!"
"She's dying," Poe realized out loud, looking back at his companion. "We can't just leave her here!"
"Poe," I smiled sadly. His frantic, wide eyes looked back at me in grief. "There's nothing you can do."
"Don't say that, Anseris, you know it isn't true-"
"My mission is far from over," I sighed softly. "Yours isn't. This isn't the end for me." Poe hung his head for a moment before lifting it up and shaking it.
"Damn you," he cursed before pressing his forehead against mine. I gave a shaky breath as he laid me back flat on the ground to leave the cell, turning back to face me for a final moment. "You come to the base, you hear me? I don't care if you hate the General or any of us; you aren't spending the rest of your time alone in this forsaken galaxy! Come-"
