I pushed past terrified aliens and humans alike, relieved to see Cada standing in a field clutching BD-1 tightly while the horde brushed past her. "What happened?" I asked her, my voice raised so she could hear me over the commotion. She raised a finger towards the sky, and my eyes widened at the sight. It was like a small sun had suddenly appeared and self-destructed, its circular form red and fiery. From the dozens of voices crying out in different languages around me, I knew I wasn't the only one shocked and terrified.
"It just exploded out of nowhere," Cada told me, her voice quivering slightly, but she hid it well. "This was no mere accident. Someone destroyed it."
"That's Hosnian Prime," I realized before nodding in agreement, trying to push aside my horror and the sickly feeling growing in my stomach. "The First Order is the only one with the firepower to even try this, but how?" BD-1 chirped indignantly at me, and I looked down at him. "I would've said hi first, but if you hadn't noticed, an entire planet was just obliterated."
"Where's Zelena?" the Pamiarsa technician asked me worriedly, allowing the droid to hop on my shoulder. He nuzzled his head against my neck, and I bent my head sideways briefly to return his form of a hug."And Alulano? Have you seen them?"
"No, I was a little..." I looked down at Luke's lightsaber still clutched in my hand. "... a little preoccupied." Cada followed my gaze, giving an exasperated sigh as her eyes landed on the weapon.
"You didn't steal that, did you?"
"Is it really stealing if they don't exist?" I attempted to joke, but her expression remained serious. "We'll find them, I promise- "
"Duck!" Cada cut me off, and I heeded her words without a second thought. BD-1 yelped as I crouched, watching the technician standing above me whip out one of her blasters from a holster on her thigh and shoot whoever was behind me. My almost-attacker hit the ground hard, and I narrowed my eyes at the now dead GA droid. The blast had gone straight through its center, the edges still a hot, blistering orange, but I was more interested in the small honing beacon no longer clenched tightly in its hand. "You're welcome."
"I'd thank you, but I think you just killed the one thing calling the Resistance to our aid," I said slowly, setting the lightsaber on the grass to examine Cada's newest kill. "We might have a problem."
"I thought the last thing we wanted beside the First Order on our asses was the Resistance," Cada said in confusion, not at all ashamed. "What's the change in heart?"
"One of my fri- a guy I worked with died trying to bring the map to Skywalker to the Resistance. Evidently, his companions are too scatterbrained at the moment to do that."
