The abandoned village of Carlac was deathly quiet as I sat crisscrossed in the snow, my eyes closed as I turned off all my senses and used the Force as my guide. The cold wind was blowing fiercely against my bare arms as I wore my short-sleeved tunic and pants, but it didn't bother me. I could feel the life-force from each object surrounding me, even the things most wouldn't determine alive. The cherry blossom trees would pulse in harmony, the wind singing in my ears as it carried their petals away. The rocks vibrated quietly as the planet rotated around the stars in the Outer Rim system.

A bug had landed on the tip of my nose and its tiny legs were causing it to itch.

I shook off the distraction, my hair scaring the insect away when it came close, and took a breath before concentrating again. I could sense the Resistance commanding pilot Poe Dameron watching me amusedly from the safety of one of the village houses. My droid BD-1 was with him, giving off erratic frequencies from his wiring. Everything was calm and peaceful. Too calm and peaceful...

I broke a branch off a nearby tree with the Force, opening my eyes and turning backward to stop my teacher Ahsoka Tano from sneaking up on me. Her wooden staff came hard down on the branch with a loud crack, but that didn't slow her down.

"You think too loud," I snickered, twisting the branch to block her again as I bounced up on my feet. My Master smirked, and I yelped as her other staff took my legs out from underneath me, causing me to fall on my ass back into the snow. There was no doubt that Poe was laughing from whichever house he was hiding in. Ahsoka readjusted her grip on one of the staffs while kicking my branch away, pointing the other staff a few inches in front of my face.

"And you let your guard down," she snarked back, breathing hard though considerably spry for her old age. My eyes narrowed, and I quickly used the Force to grab the branch again after rolling away from where her two staffs would have slammed down on me. I grasped the broken fragment of the tree with both of my wrapped hands and quickly lifted it above my head before bringing it down with bared teeth, and the Togruta quickly dodged my attack by rolling away and used the Force to jump on to one of the village roofs.

I watched closely as she ran across the stone shingles with surprising agility for her age would jump to the next roof when she reached the edge of her last. I bent my legs when she touched down on the one in front of me, the fallen tribal leader's home, and used the Force to flip above her and land in front before she could escape. "Going somewhere, Master?" I asked her tauntingly as I balanced myself on the tip of the roof. Ahsoka smirked and held her bow staffs behind her the way she did her lightsabers.

"I'm right where I want to be," she said back with the same tone, and she spun the staffs threateningly before striking first. I moved my hands to the middle of the branch to use it like my old lightsaber and blocked both of her attacks, my right foot almost slipping off the point of the roof. I ducked as she swung her left staff where my chest would've been and threw my hand forward, using the Force to push my Master back. She used her own connection to the Force to keep herself from falling off the roof, only moving a few feet away from me.
