Present day...
The cargo ship shook as my Quad battalion descended through the Milarian atmosphere, the white lights illuminating the cramped space flickering on and off every so often. My aunt Allyria stood closest to the ramp, ready to lead her troops the moment the ship touched down and into the chaos of the battlefield. I was somewhere around the back, hidden so that I could enter the fight unnoticed. Poe and Finn were on a separate ship, one planned to land a few minutes prior to ours.
Ever since Ben had taken control over the entire First Order, Quad territory was immediately swarmed with Stormtroopers. Intel from an unknown source had stated that the new Supreme Leader was not behind the attacks, but rather a veteran of the Imperial Military named Enric Pryde. The General was vicious and unforgiving, striking down without warning and giving no mercy. No one had heard from Jevo since his grounds on Taris had been infiltrated and bombed; whispers were that he had possibly found an ally somewhere on Pasaana. Carlac had been seized by the First Order days after I had requested my Master Ahsoka Tano to join the Rebellion, but the Futinis and their people had deserted it even earlier. Milarian was the Quad's last hope... unless they took my and Poe's offer to form an alliance with Leia or found a place to regroup and hide.
"Alright, listen up!" Allyria yelled, changing hands on the ceiling strap she held for support so she could face all of us. Her once long hair had been cut to the length I previously had and bleached blonde, drawing more attention to the black war makeup she had lining her eyes. "I'm not going to lie to you; it's going to be hell out there. We are the Quad's hope, kriff, we're the only hope left to the entire Trans-Nebular system! The First Order expects an easy win, but we won't be giving them that! We are going to run those rats out of our homes for good!" The battalion cheered, and through the masses, my aunt and I managed to lock eyes with each other. It wasn't easy when Merri asked for the two of us to be in the same squad, but due to our personal history, I worked with it. We didn't have to work together; I had my orders and she had hers. Still, I felt uncomfortable.
The cargo ship gave a final shake as we hit the ground, and I had to squint my eyes to adjust to the bright sunlight as the ramp door lowered. "For another tomorrow!" Allyria roared, and the battalion charged behind her with battle cries of their own. I followed suit, both of my hands wrapping around the two lightsaber hilts stowed away and activating them in the backwards form Ahsoka taught me the moment my feet touched the pavement. The First Order had managed to work its way in the smaller towns on the outskirts of Merri's capital base, roofs lit aflame and broken monuments crumbled on the streets.
"Is that your squad landing, Anseris?" I heard Poe speak on our private channel through my earpiece. I rolled the ground and swung my lightsabers out, both blades cleanly slicing through two Stormtroopers' stomachs before they could attempt to shoot me down. As I quickly stood back up on my feet, I did a fast three-step turn to thrust my shoto lightsaber through another's chest while the normal-sized weapon in my right hand blocked oncoming blasts. "Anseris!"
