As soon as the indigo X-Wing landed on the tarmac of D'Qar, I pressed the button to pull the glass covering back, BD-1 already up on my shoulder. I locked eyes with Poe as he exited his, and I couldn't help but laugh gleefully. He was doing the same, a grin plastered on his face. I jumped the short distance to the ground and Poe caught me, spinning me around for a moment as we embraced cheerfully.

"We did it," I spoke as he set me down on the ground. "That... that was-"

"Heart-racing?" Poe answered for me. "Fun?"

"I was going to say chaotic and terrifying," I chuckled, readjusting my helmet as my arm pinned it against the side of my chest. BD chirped in agreement. "I've never flown in that kind of environment before."

"Could've surprised me; you were one of our best fliers out there," the Resistance pilot complimented me. We both turned away from each other as the Millennium Falcon flew over us, landing on the opposite end of the tarmac. "Let's go congratulate our friends." I waited for him to remove BB-8 from his black X-Wing so we could walk together across the landing grounds. Many of the other Resistance members embraced Poe as we walked through the celebrating crowds, and I had to stop awkwardly every time it happened. I would just lower my head and wait. The one with his two squadrons was longer, and I felt a strange source of calmness wash over me.

"That was a very brave thing you did," I heard my mother's voice speak behind me as I waited, and I turned around to see her Force ghost beaming with pride. "Considering you swore to never come to the Resistance's aid all those years ago."

"What can I say, Mom?" I shrugged, and my right hand reached subconsciously for my broken lightsaber. "I live to surprise you." She nodded, crossing her arms against her chest, and her eyes flickered to my broken weapon.

"I know losing it must have been hard for you," she comforted me, and I quickly removed my hand. "The Force connected you and that crystal as it does all Jedi. To have that connection severed... that is a pain I wished you never had to experience."

"Why are you mentioning this?' I asked her in confusion, and she looked past me to the commanding Resistance pilot I considered my friend.

"There's a ex-Jedi from the age of the Republic who I encountered once who could help you," my mother mentioned. "She retreated to Carlac years before... years before you were born."

"Carlac?" I narrowed my eyes in confusion. "That's all the way on the other side of the Outer Rim Territories... and the Futinis have control over half of that planet!"

"Who are you talking to?" My mother's Force ghost disappeared, and I turned back to face Poe. "Dessie?"

"I... um..." I scrambled for the proper words to say. Everything had happened so fast; the destruction of the kyber crystal back in the woods, deciding to help the Resistance, finding out I had a new part in my plan to save Ben. "I think I know where we're going after this... if you still want to help me, of course."
