"Excuse me- sorry- coming through!" I apologized as I painfully made my way to the front of the shelter, grabbing onto shoulders for support as my knees shook. BD-1 kept chirping angrily at me, begging me to sit and rest, but I didn't listen. Maybe I thought I would be able to catch up to my old mentor. "Kriff, move... please."
"Wait, Despina!" I felt warm, calloused hands grab my shoulder, and I turned my head to see Finn approaching me. It had been a while since I had truly seen him. Dried blood and bruises laced the upper sides of his face, and his lower lip was split open. There was a look in his eyes that made him seem different to me, but I knew he was. The young ex-Stormtrooper had grown up. "What are you doing? I thought Poe-" One of my knees buckled, and Finn quickly pulled my left arm over his shoulder to help me stand. "Hey, hey, it's okay. It's okay. Let's find you a chair to sit, alright?"
"Luke," I told him tiredly as he helped me limp over to where Poe stood peering through the small gap of the broken entry doors. "Where's Luke, I need to talk to him."
"Finn, I was wondering where-" Poe started to say until he realized my presence. The rebel pilot immediately frowned but dragged a chair for me to sit on. "I thought I told you to rest!" He looked down at BD, who immediately began to chatter about how he tried to stop me. "Okay, so I'm not the only one she doesn't listen to."
"Where's Luke?" I asked him, wincing as Finn gently let me fall into a sitting position. Poe merely handed me a pair of quadnocs, and I used them to look through the entry gap to see Ben and Luke walking towards each other. Both had their lightsabers activated, master and apprentice reuniting once more. I could feel Ben's anger radiating off of him, much stronger than when we stood opposite in the throne room. He was angry at me, angry at Luke's presence, angry at both sides of the war.
"About to fight your boyfriend, that's where," Poe answered, some sarcasm in his tone. He bent down for a moment to allow the small droid upon his shoulder, BD-1 twittering a 'thank you.' "Finn, how's Rose doing?"
"Hurt, but she'll live," Finn nodded before giving me a soft smile. "I think you'll like her; she reminds me a bit of you in some ways." He returned his gaze to the outside, watching the two Force-users circle each other. "Do you think he'll win? Against Ren?"
"We have to hope," Poe told him, placing his hand on the other's shoulder. I watched their interaction closely, how his hand lingered a bit longer in that position, and how Finn tried to hide his smile despite his obvious blushing. Poe's feelings weren't one-sided, but I don't think he knew that at the time. I gave a final look to the outside and the figures fighting, bowing my head in respect and remorse.
"Goodbye, Uncle Luke," I whispered before looking over at my droid. "Bee?" BD-1 tilted his head to the side at the sound of his name. "Got any of those healing stims Jevo mentioned before?" The bipedal droid lit up as he remembered the conversation from our first meeting and jumped off Poe's shoulder and into my lap. The top compartment of his head opened, revealing six green syringe canisters. I grit my teeth as I picked one up and slammed it into my thigh, my shoulders relaxing immediately as the stimulant gave me an extra boost of energy. BD took the empty canister and stowed it back inside him, jumping excitedly as he could see the medicine working. "I never want to do that again."
