I pulled my hood over my ears, and flexed my cold, stiff fingers. I could see the bright moon above the trees that surrounded me like fog.
From what the map on my phone had said, the Hotel was only three long kilometers. Three long kilometers to HIKE. And I was not going to travel by road, in case somebody somehow identified me. Yet I hiked on, twisting my little silver dagger around. It was the only reliable weapon I had, and the only reliable weapon I needed.
I didn't know if I could do it. If I could kill Noah. There were two reasons for this. One was that I didn't know everything about vampires. If I don't know all of his weaknesses, how am I supposed to avenge my little sister?
The second one was because I still cared about him. I still cared about the stupid vampire, who murdered my sister, and ran off into the darkness. I STILL cared.
My feet still ached with every step I took, and the old, dry leaves that crumbled beneath my feet made my presence known to the rest of the forest, an entire new world. And this new world, I told myself, could hold predators like wolves, bears and wild dogs.
And vampires.
