The tent that Phoenix pulled us in front of was just a little bigger than the rest. There was no light inside of it, so I expected nobody to answer. I heard Noah gulp beside me.

"Would you stop hanging around that stupid animal, and actually help out?" Phoenix asked the tent, playfully.

Thankfully, the tent did not reply. Instead, the zipper quickly shot open the let a boy, about one year older than Phoenix, emerge. The boy had messy blonde hair and eyes that were a mixture of light green and blue that reminded me of mint and the sky.

"I could say the same to you. A vampire AND a human? Really?" Enzion shook his head in discomfort.

"Dad said that you had to-" Phoenix began before Enzion cut in.

"I hard what dad said. But Arius isn't used to hanging around so-called 'friendly' vampires. He's only used to eating them, cutting out their hearts, decapitating them-"

"Wait," I interrupted. "Who is Arius?"

Phoenix rolled her eyes, playfully. "It's  his Griffin. He won't leave it alone. We found the Griffin getting attacked by.... Creatures, and Enzion fought off all three of them by himself. That was the first time I have ever been impressed by him, and obviously the last."

Enzion shrugged, putting his hands into his jumper pockets.

"Everything begins at something, right?" He smiled, crookedly.

It took a while to persuade Enzion to leave Arius in the tent, but after a hundred times of Phoenix telling him that Arius would be completely safe, he came around.

We headed through the woods once again, whilst Phoenix explained where we were going.

"Before my mother dies, she had built a wooden shack where she could perform magic safely. At the time, it was looked down upon by wolves even more than humans, even though the burning of innocent beings had been stopped long ago. After she married my father she managed to persuade all of the camps that magic can be used for good, too. Of course, that didn't stop her fate."

Bitter sadness was hidden in her eyes, as she looked at her bracelet. She fidgeted with it as she walked.

"What do you mean by that?" I asked patiently.

Everybody was silent, even Noah.

"It means," Enzion paused, glancing at his sisters' face. "She was killed. By your kind."

He nodded towards me.
